Thanks to Lottery Post members jim695 and LosingJeff, the issue of computerized lottery drawings is getting some big attention in Indiana.  The story, posted in the news section this morning, was on the front cover of Saturday's Fort Wayne news/Sentinel.

Congratulations guys, and I hope the fight to regain ping-pong balls is successful!

$40,000 for those pingpong ball machines? sheesh. I wrote a simple Perl program that randomly selects 4 numbers.

The point of the story is that JavaScript and Pearl (and any other programming language) is not as good as ping-pong balls.  You can just as easily manipulate the JavaScript or Pearl program to make any numbers you want come out.

Texas does not seem to be having any trouble manipulating the ping pong ball and the machines to get the numbers that they want to come out come out, as a matter of fact they are very good at it and have been doing it for every single draw for quite some time, if they can do it any other state lottery can also do it, so never mind computer programs, if they want to do it like Texas does, they will do it no matter what, so really the whole point is moot, sorry.
