The Mega Millions lottery set a new 15-roll record for the July 2 draw with its $280 million jackpot. The previous 15-roll record was $183 million. The Powerball 15-roll record is $221.5 million.

This is also the largest Mega Millions jackpot.

Mega Millions has never rolled more than 15 times. The Big Game 15-record was $116 million and its maximum number of rolls was 19. Under the previous format for the Powerball lottery, the 15-roll record was $150 million and it also rolled a maximum of 19 times.

Good luck,
Jake

This is the second largest Mega Millions Jackpot.  Mega Millions did have the first largest Jackpot since the last draw of last night.  Before the $325 million dollar mark, Mega Millions rolled over 19 times. in 2002.

        Oh,

Well, either way, they still had two huge jackpots.  But, thanks for letting me know.

I estimate that even if the lottery ultimately rises to $340,000,000 on this draw, it will still have a roughly 1 in 4 chance of rolling over again (right now its roughly 1 in 2).  As we know being gamblers, 1 in 4 is definitely a possibility.

It's way too early, but would anyone care to speculate on the ultimate jackpot size should it rollover one more time?

Even without a rollover, I think the Jackpot will rise with the amount of people playing it, and the amount of cash people put on the game.  Like last time, the jackpot was more after someone had won.  So, I think we should see a increase in the prize amount before the draw, and after.

My guess is it would pass the previous total of the old Big Game lottery of 363 at some where around 370.  If Friday's draw is at least 300+ and rolls.

I made this prediction in a different forum, but I will repeat this here. I predict that this run has one roll left. I think that it will be won on 7/6, by a single ticket, and the jackpot will be 450 million.

As I calculate it there is roughly a one in twelve chance of that happening.  There is actually a one in sixteen chance of the lottery rolling over two more times.

Here is the distribution for number of winners in a jackpot where the increase in the annuity value is $110,000,000

                  024.51%
                  134.47%
                  224.23%
                  311.35%
                  43.99%
                  51.12%
                  60.26%
                  70.05%
                  80.01%

At $280 million (as I pointed out on the probability thread) the odds are roughly 50:50 that there will be a rollover.

The Mega Millions lottery set a new 3-roll record for the July 16 draw with its $29 million jackpot. The previous 3-roll record was $28 million. The Powerball 3-roll record is $33.2 million.

                    Good luck,

I don't think we have seen so many large Jackpots for Mega Millions before Texas had joined in on the game.  By saying that, I think this is one of the main reasons for the rappid growth of the Jackpot prizes.  It will only continue to grow and set new records, since more people are now playing it and that Texas is a large State.  I am sure we will see another huge Jackpot before the summer is up, or one for Christmas again.

The Mega Millions lottery set a new 4-roll record for the July 20 draw with its $37 million jackpot. The previous 4-roll record was $36 million. The Powerball 4-roll record is $42 million.

I estimate that the Mega Millions lottery will set a new record with each new roll until it is won.

During the earlier phases of the last run-up to the $290 million jackpot, both Texas and New York, two of MM's biggest states had large jackpots in their home state lotteries.  This probably slowed the MM rise considerably, and I suspect that this series of rollovers, if it lasts, will go much faster.

Modelling the rollovers on the last series of rollovers though, I see the odds of matching that jackpot at only around 7% at this point, though.

The Mega Millions lottery set a new record.

The July 27 draw was the first time the jackpot was won at the $10 million level.

There was also a surprisingly large number of second prize winners at 34. The record number of second prize winners is 56 on Feb 20, 2004 when the jackpot was $239 million.

                              Good luck,
