tntea,
I do not know whether additional pencil & paper systems relly help you to reduce numbers.
What I DO know is that the posters here have all different ideas on how many numbers to play and how to create their selections. I am sure you will find in the near future more and more users reducing their CRUNCH numbers way further. In the post https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/93452 Lucky reduced the number of greeneyes selections to a playable 18 for example.
Other systems that you might see here, such as the Wild Wheel 3, Mastermind 3 etc. are using a "Ranking' approach. The most likely numbers are on the top ot the lists. For you that would mean to play as many of the first numbers as you want. An example here was posted just recently by winsumloosesum in https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/93520.
In addition you can find many posts here with helpful information to use tools such as the CRUNCH. Blackapple's selection of roots or key numbers, Lucky's lists for certian states, emily's paris etc. can all be used as valuable input to improve and reduce the selection of numbers.
GOOD LUCK!
