i really hope the ohio lottery starts sunday draws soon.  they could make so much more money just by holding sunday draws.

I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

When Buckeye5 changes to a rolling jackpot game, don't be surprised if the $1 prize for a 2of5 is eliminated.  The odds of a 2of5 is 1:9 which means for every $100K in sales, about $10K is paid out for this prize alone.  By eliminating this prize and adding $1-$2K to the jackpot until it's won will save the State a lot of money.  Also the game now pays up to ten $100K prizes with a cap of $1M when there are several winners, but with a jackpot style game the top prize will be divided equally among all the winners, which will save several $100K payout on the occasions that there are more than one winner. The State will pay out less money, but I suspect it will explain the new game as an improvement because a player could win more money on a single ticket.  They did the same thing when they changed SuperLotto to SuperLottoPlus and eliminated the $3 prize for a 3of6.  They recently started to offer a free QP with annunity option for a 3of6 to promote the game after sales fell.

i like the idea of a free quick pick for 3 of 6 with super lotto plus.  i've had runs where i would match 3/6, and then the free pick would match 3/6 or would win something.  also, i like the idea of a rolling jackpot pick 5 game.

The change in Buckeye5 could look like the new Fantasy 5 game that is due to start tomorrow in Michigan as reported in the news.

Michigan Lottery players will have a chance at a daily jackpot of at least $100,000 with Fantasy 5, a new daily game that debuts on September 12.
With Fantasy 5, players select five numbers from a field of 39.  A match
of all five numbers wins the jackpot, which will start at $100,000.  If there
is no winner, the jackpot grows by $5,000 per day until it is won.  Average
jackpots are expected to be $155,000.
In addition to the jackpot, players who match four numbers are guaranteed
$100; three numbers guarantee $10; and two numbers guarantee $1.  "We call this game our mini-lotto," said Lottery Commissioner Gary Peters.

This was post at the Ohio lottery website:

Big Winners: Three September 8 Buckeye 5 $100,000 winners sold at Hilltop Quick Stop, Williamsburg (manual pick), Pettit's BP Oil, Yellow Springs (manual pick), and Lews Express Mart, Austinburg (manual pick).

Could it be that players who are using a system to pick their numbers are starting to win, prompting a need for a change?

i think ohio is going for a pari-mutuel game to avoid the possibility of too many winners in a certain prize category.

any word on the lower tier prizes, or if they are pari-mutuel?
