This is from days back in my youth.
I can remember my mother sewing and making clothes. Take a light bulb to use when darnig holes in socks.
We were our own mechanic back then doing all types of auto repairs from replacing engines , rebuilding engines , engine parts replacements all that sort of stuff.
During the big2 agricultural feed stores use to ship out grains for livestock in cotton cloth bags that were imprinted with fancy designs to be used again for making clothing by the seamstress in the family.
I remember my dad replacing soles on shoes as he had this thing where you put the shoes on to work .
We lived on a farm with acreage and tillable land giving us food crops for fresh use and canning as well as poultry for eggs and meat.  livestock for meat processing as well as fresh milk daily and the excess to be used to make all sorts of dairy products like fresh cream , butter . buttermilk , cottage cheese.
Had an orchard having apples , pears , cherries. All that to be used fresh , dried or whatever. Had drop apples that were used to make a 50 gallon barrel of cider to be drank fresh or let to ferment. LOL. You also could let the cider barrell freeze some and siphon out the alchol from the center. LOL
Had a fair amount of woodlot to be used for our lumber needs as well as putting up about 8 or 10 cord of wood for winter heating and wood stove cooking.

May sound primitive to some people but had food , shelter , clothing and the warmth of a home.

Did not need much money although my dad made a fair amount from farm products to purchase what we needed like autos , farm equiptment ,entertainment , and other necessities.

What does 99% of the population have today. The dependence on a weekly job for everything mentioned above.

Just read an article on my homepage that the bailout money received by financial institutions will be used for employee bonuses.

I was reading on my homepage yesterday about mortgage being foreclosed on that are rental property by the debtor. There were forclosures of rental property in the 100s of thousand if I remember correctly.
Now this would be a simple process by the mortgage companies. If the property that is being foreclosed on is a rental property of a single family dwelling why not contact the renter of that property to offer a transfer of the mortgage to the renter.

When property is rented the rent collected is generaly sufficent enough to cover all cost with a small profit. The renter of the property would have receipts for the rent paid. Show this proof to the mortgage company for your ability to assume the mortgage being foreclosed upon. If the renter thinks the interest is to high or they would prefer a locked in rate instead of an a r m they could have an option for a mortgage that is suitable to both the renter and the mortgage company.

If everything looks in order the mortgage will be tranferred to the renter and they would become the owner of the property.

That will give a continuation of mortgage payments to the mortgage company. 

These c e o's have got to learn how to think. Foreclosing on property costs a great deal of money on their part.

I was reading yesterday on my homepage about the debt meter running out of space for the trillions in debt.

The thought came to my mind is that we need to have a national debt meter put on the wall in the house and senate chambers directly behind the speaker of the house and senate.

Do you think it would drive the politicans crazy looking at it zinging up the numbers. 

Or do you think they would be ashamed of themselves? With all the pork barrels.

Maybe we could have wooden barrels labeled pork barrel put in the halls for the trash.

Played about 4 numbers yesterday having the 267 combo in them. Got up early this am and made my post for mid. Went back to bed.
Got up around noon and had my coffee and cigs and did not feel like driving to the store before the noon draw. Only 2 minute drive to store too.

Well the 267 combo hit and I lost my $40.00 box wager.

Had those 56 no match filtered down to just 4 numbers too.

If these news writers and internet writers would not have fear in their headlines things might go a little more smoothly.

Their is scared money out there and these news articles are scaring the <snip> out of small investors.

Report the news but be more cautious in what you say writers. Give the money markets time to work things out.

I seen one article where a lending institution is going to rewrite some high interest mortgages down to a payable level by borrowers.

If more lending institutions would work with borrowers on their mortgages they would not have this foreclosure mess at the level it is. Rewrite the motgages where they do not need to foreclose and give the borrowers time. Better to have a cash flow coming in even it is only interest payments at this time.

If I was the c e o of a lending institution I would be working with borrowers to have cash flow instead of all these defaults.
