Our group won $10 and three free tickets on the December 29 Super 7 draw.
The $32 million jackpot was won - two winning tickets.
We will have to wait at least 2 months for the Super 7 jackpot to get large enough again to buy tickets. The Lotto 649 jackpot is also at its starting level of $4 million.
Patience is the important virtue in the lottery game.
The Super 7 draw on December 22 had a bonus jackpot of $30 million. Sales supported a jackpot of approximately $8 million.
The jackpot was not won and rolled to $32 million for the Dec 29 draw. I predict sales will not increase very much if at all this week becuase of the holidays. Sales will contribute another $8 million towards the jackpot leaving a shortfall of approximately $16 million for the December 29 draw.
If the jackpot rolls on December 29, the January 6 jackpot will be $35 million. It will have a shortfall of around $10 million. Therefore, I predict if the January 6 jackpot rolls, then the January 13 jackpot at $37 million will be very close to 100% funded. But since sales for these series of draws are over $22 million tickets per draw and the odds of a jackpot win are 21 million to 1, I predict tthe jackpot will be won on December 29 or January 6.

Our group won $40 (4 tickets matched 4 numbers) and 9 free tickets. The jackpot rolled to $32 million for the December 29 draw.
We bought 15 tickets and redeemed the 9 free tickets for a total of 24 tickets for the December 29 draw.

In Canada, we are in the middle of a series of three bonus jackpots for Super 7. The jackpots are $25 million, $27 million and $30 million. The first two bonus jackpot draws have already been held. The third and last bonus jackpot draw is Friday, December 22.
The bonus jackpots are funded from the unclaimed prize pool. In Canada, the lottery rules state that all designated prize money MUST be awarded as prizes and cannot be kept by the lottery company even if left unclaimed.
In the first two draws, the vast majority of the jackpot prize was unfunded by sales. In the $25 million draw on December 8, sales supported a jackpot value of only $5.6 million. The remaining $19.4 million was funded from the unclaimed prize pool.
In the $27 million draw on December 15, sales supported a jackpot value of only $6.4 million. The remaining $20.6 million was funded from the unclaimed prize pool.
I predict that the upcoming $30 million bonus jackpot will be funded by sales to the sum of approximately $8 million. If the jackpt is not won, then the following jackpot value will be $32 million. The jackpot will continue to grow using the established jackpot growth pattern until either the jackpot is won, or it will be totally funded by sales. The jackpot pattern is $32 million, $35 million, $37 million, $40 million, etc.

I am hoping our Super 7 Groups have a couple of big wins in the next two draws. I checked out our year to date winnings and we did not do as well this year as past years.
So far this year we won $1,118 plus $402 worth of free tickets.
Last year was our best year. We won $2,224, $505 worth of free tickets and $14,074 US.
Our next best year was 2004 where we won $5,902, $78 worth of free tickets and $5,256 US.
In 2003 we won $1,587, $170 worth of free tickets and $7,476 US.
The previous three years we won a lot of US money because we were playing the Michigan Winfall lottery. The game was discontinued last year. I was planning to replace it with Mega Millions but gave up when the jackpots were not growing are large as expected. Mega Millions has such long odds that I feel it is only worth playing when the jackpots are large.
So we need a big win either tomorrow or next Friday to beat our current Canadian record of $5,902.
The new Super 7 group is now up to $546. That buys us 273 tickets. With the 2 tickets from the other group, we get a total of 275 tickets.
I am still expecting to get up to 300 tickets by draw night.
A good feature of this group is that each share costs only $1. Therefore a person can pick the exact amount to spend to get the exact share of the jackpot they want.
I expect sales to be less than 21 million tickets and therefore only one winning ticket is the most likely scenario.
Decided to start the new group for the Super 7 draw on December 15. The jackpot is $27 million.
Even though the jackpot for the following draw is $30 million, I decided to go for the earlier draw because I estimated the sales for the Dec 22 draw will be at least 10% higher than the Dec 15. The higher sales offsets the increased jackpot size giving an approximately equal expected value. Also, by playing the draw on Dec 15 gives us the option of spending our winnings on the following draw.
I am using money from the other permanent Lotto 649 groups. The Lotto 649 jackpot was won yesterday, so its jackpot will not be over $20 until at least Dec 23.
So far we have $490 in the new group. That buys us 245 tickets plus the 2 free tickets in the other group gives us a total of 247 tickets for the Dec 15 draw. I expect more money will be added to the group by Friday. I am hoping to reach $600 and 300 tickets.
By the way, the Super 7 lottery lost it first place position for largest North American lottery. It is now in second place behind the Powerball lottery.

The jackpot for the next Super 7 draw is $27 million. It is a bonus jackpot. The jackpot for the December 8 draw was won - two winning tickets.
Now I have to decide whether to start a new group for the $27 million jackpot draw on December 15 or wait for the $30 million jackpot on December 22.
I called the lottery office and found out there will be two more Super 7 Bonus jackpots after the $25 million bonus jackpot on Dec 8.
The Dec 15 Super 7 jackpot will be $27 million and the Dec 22 Super 7 jackpot will be $30 million.
If our current group does not win anything in the Dec 8 draw, then I will start a new group for the Dec 15 draw. Otherwise, I will start a new group for the Dec 22 draw. Winning three days before Christmas would be a nice gift.

Even though the jackpot was won, the next jackpot was increased to $25 million as a bonus jackpot. Prizes that go unclaimed are used to fund bonus jackpots. This is the rule with Canadian lotteries. I do not know of any other lottery jurisdiction that awards unclaimed prizes.
I am trying to find out how many more bonus jackpots are planned for the Super 7 lottery and the size of the jackpots. I will post here when I find out.

Our group will buy $94 worth of tickets for the Dec 1 draw. We are using money we won in a previous draw.

Well, I am still waiting to see if Lotto 649 rolls again. It rolled on Saturday so now I only need one more roll and it is group play time. If Lotto 649 does not roll, then I go with plan B and buy Super 7 tickets for the group. Either way, the group gets to play for a jackpot larger than $20 million.
I buy group play tickets at least once a month.
