Power in Numbers

Published:

I've always been fascinated by numbers.  Just an innate thing within me.  I have no idea why.  Ever since I can remember, I've had a thing where I can remember long strings of numbers. IP addresses, credit card numbers, phone numbers, MAC addresses, serial numbers, you name it. A few moments of staring at a number with a few short recitals and I have it down pat. Weird.

For many years I've wondered how knowing I had this ability would serve me in some way. I had no idea what I could do to utilize this talent I had. All I knew is that I could do it.

I play the lottery as a hobby. I've been drawn to the Pick 10 New York game.  Strange some say, because the game has an 80 number field, trying to figure out just enough numbers to win a prize is challenging enough. Its a game where the numbers to choose from range from 1-80, the amount of numbers drawn is 20, and you need 10 to win the jackpot.  Sounds easy right? HA! Some would say, if its that easy everybody would be doing it.

Well, I for one am glad not everybody is doing.  I like those odds.  I also like that if you win a jackpot, your name, age, rank, serial number, and eye color aren't media headlines.  I also like that I've found a way to narrow the playing field within such a huge playing field.  In a way that works for me.  Kinda my own personal way of analysis.

So although, I haven't figured out exactly how to use the memory of numbers to help me in winning a jackpot in Pick 10, just the fact that I'm drawn to numbers in some way that's thought provoking, and exciting when I learn something new in a pattern is good enough for me. That's power in numbers.
