Want friendly people who are Pro Liberty, Pro Constitution. Pro Bill of Right
I met a British woman in a chat room shortly after I got online and she came over to see me several times and would marvel at how friendly the people were . We were driving around the countryside on a sparsely traveled road and I was showing her where I had grown up. I stopped to let her take some photos of a herd of antelope and not just once, but three different times people stopped to see if we were having car trouble. One couple who lived nearby stayed a while chatting, even inviting us to come have "supper". (which she didn't know what that meant)
Another time we were going down to my home town and passed several vehicles along the way right around quittin' time After the third time my friend asked "Did you know those blokes?" "Huh?" I asked, puzzled. "No, why?" "I was only curious." she explained. "They waved at you and you waved back." It was foreign to her for people to be so friendly.
Texans are basically libertarians at heart, all except for the social meddlers on the far right and the big govt statists on the far left. We pretty much mind our own "bidness" and don't care much what you do, just as long as it doesn't pick our pockets or keep us awake at night. Yes, we do elect some religious busy bodies from the right, but that seems preferable to electing the nanny state totalitarians from the left.
Many blue moons ago in the distant past I was hosted by Uncle Sam assigned to El Paso in West Texas for a spell. Later returning to civilian life I was on the road meeting many good folks in numerous cities. In all my travels with the exception of OKies, I never met any the likes of Texans. People are naturally warm, hospitable with hearts as big as the State. Many still abide by the sacred Code of the West and yes man are still men & women are still women. When the National Rodeo Finals come to LV town for the week long Cow Boy/Cow Girl Christmas Show & Exhibit I round up mi beautiful bride along with Eastern visiting rug rats nephews & nieces :-) to meet & great the inheritors of the individualistic true grit folks that contributed mightly to the greatness of our country, kid love live hands on action of rop'n & riding, handcrafts etc - they are not taught these traditional values in school, may sound corny, but the kids love it. So if I move again I will saddle'm up & head up the wagons following the bright Lone Star back to TEXAS :-)
