Container garden [this & That]

Published:

Went out to check on the container vegetables today and see that I have three big boy tomatoes which will be fully vine ripened for picking tomorrow. The lower sucker stems on the yellow cherry tomato plants are growing well.

Looked at my peppers which have fruited and discovered one of the purple peppers was soft and mushy. Picked it off and threw it on the ground. Was thinking about it and came to the conclusion it cooked right on the vine. The pepper was exposed to the direct sunlight with day time temperatures in the nineties right now. I have a garden hose laying on the ground going to the deck and when I turn it on I need to let it run a bit as the water in the hose heats up to at least 110 degrees. Put my hand under the water when I turn it on and feel the hot water. Imagine what temperature the moisture in the pepper on the plant gets up to being exposed to the sunlight.

May have an eggplant for harvest in about a week. The eggplant produced better than I expected. I have about six eggplant growing now with more flowers that started to show fruit. Will have some eggplant Parmesan.

I have one yellow tomato that will be vine ripe by tomorrow. That plant only produced about three tomatoes. All that work for three tomatoes.

The cucumber plant in the deck container has one more cuke on it and I do not see very many flowers on it. Will use that container for zucchini squash when they come up.
