Jumping off the sinking ship (San Fran)

A major medical association has backed out of holding its annual 15,000-attendee convention

in San Francisco  last week.

The Chicago-based medical association’s decision to hold the convention elsewhere leaves San Francisco with a $40 million loss and the potential for even greater financial losses if other groups decide to follow suit. The convention business  brings in approximately $2 billion in revenues for San Francisco annually.

The  New York Post  reported “Human waste-related complaints in San Francisco have skyrocketed 400 percent from 2008 to 2018, according to data from the city.. In 2017 alone, more than 21,000 reports were received, due in part to the thousands of homeless people living throughout the city.”

The most recent incident, which took place in the heart of the Golden State’s liberal center, has prompted criticism.

“I’m third generation California, born and raised, and this is not the California I came from or knew for that matter,” Kimberlin Brown Pelzer, 57. Pelzer is a small business owner. She said that every morning, her employees need to clean the feces and needles off the sidewalks in her town.

“I have people coming into my stores on a regular basis stealing items that my employees are later finding on Craigslist and the police can’t or won't do anything about it,” she said. “They say they won’t show up because, where do you send a ticket for someone who is homeless?” She added, “they simply don’t show up any longer. And they’ve made crime okay in the State of California.”

Pelzer said  San Francisco, which is Nancy “Pelosi’s backyard,” is at the epicenter of a “liberal agenda that is driving California down the path that it’s going.

She argued that Democrats really “don’t care” and that they’re trying to attract people to California “to keep their voter base popular, and I can tell you that this is not the California that we want any longer. We need change here desperately.”

PS.......I recently had a conversation with a visitor to the museum where I volunteer as a docent. He was in the town looking at real estate with plans to relocate from San Francisco to the Savannah/Hilton Head area. He was the owner and head chef of a popular restaurant in the Bay area for the last thirty years. He said he 'had it' with crime and aggressive vagrants who are destroying business in tourist centers and at the wharf district where they 'target'. He also 'had it' with the entire state of California. According to him "the last straw" happened back in June when a mentally deranged man naked from the waist down sat and blocked the entrance to his business. His manager asked the man to leave at which point the derelict attacked his employee and then proceeded to urinate on the restaurant's front door. His manager called the police who...after three repeated calls... arrived TWO HOURS later. They moved the man a few doors down the sidewalk to a closed building and then came back and threatened the manager with 'jail time and a stiff fine' if SHE ever accosts another street person again. His manager (according to him...'a petite woman') had numerous witnesses that swore all she did was ask the man to please quit blocking the front entrance or she would call the police.  He also said sarcastically "I've also grown tired of the smell of urine"

I told him how sad that made me feel as I always enjoyed my trips to the city. His advice was to "stay away and tell everyone I knew to do the same". Consider that done.

Sadly having eye witnessed the street feces and very large homeless encampments, I too find SF a much less enjoyable city. I guess there reaches an inflection point where the “rights of the homeless” begin to intrude on the rights of…everyone else...to live like a human being.

Is this once proud World jewel of the Pacific, devolving into another 3-4-5-6-7-8th world country ? ?

What a sickening story. So sad to hear this as I am a native Californian.

The Liberals in control, local and state wide have made bad decisions for the last 30 years. I lived there from 1980-1997 in Palo Alto. They keep sending the same representatives back to Washington and keep electing the same ones local and statewide.
