Container garden [this & That]

Published:

Have not done much in the container garden this past week. Been cutting out and uprooting plants this week that are finished for the season. The yellow cherry tomatoes look like the sucker branches with flower clusters are not setting fruit. Temperatures in the nineties and plants do not set fruit that well at high temps.

The butternut squash plants look healthy and flowering. Have to wait and see if they will set fruit at high temperatures.

The young yellow and zucchini squash plants are surviving. The Siberian tomato plant seedlings are doing well. Have about five Charleston bell pepper seedlings which are surviving. Maybe get a fall harvest out of those plants.

The four flower plants on the shepherds pole in front of the house are taking a beating with this hot weather. Checked the potting mix temperature in those flower pails and it is 90 degrees and higher. Soil temp too hot. I will just water them until they kick the pail.Green laugh

I will wait until end of August or first part of September to do fall flowers.
