Terrifyingly awesome, huh?

Those folks who fly through the hurricane and into the eye are some brave individuals.

To show you the magnitude of this storm, The eye is nearly 40 miles wide, and the span of this storm reaches nearly 400 miles wide. (200 miles each direction from the eye.) I pray for the people in Georgia, S. Carolina, N. Carolina, and Virginia.

I haven't read any news about it this evening, but Fri. morning they were saying it was a Cat 4, still one huge S.O.B. (or :beyotch" since this one has a female name.

I read a great article a few years back about the naming system for these storms, was very interesting.

Sheesh, I just checked on the progress and saw there is not only Florence, but Tropical Storm Isaac south and west of the Bahamas, plus Tropical Storm Joyce just nearly due east of Florence and Hurricane Helene just off the coast of Africa. There's also a trough of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico just below Texas they're keeping an eye on.

Unless a storm is going to make landfall here in the U.S., I generally don't pay a lot of attention to it, but I don't remember any time recently that so many storms and potential hurricanes have appeared at once. Other than the possibility of loss of life and property damage, the worst thing will be the climate change alarmists.
