Doug, in January, 1969, Great Falls, Mt, we had a chill factor -63. The worse I have ever experienced. It was impossible to breathe thru your nostrils and very dangerous.

I have experienced enough hard cold where I do not wish to see it again. The snow and severe cold is one reason I moved south 20 years ago.
Use to work outside doing home construction during cold snaps where I came home and sat in a chair for a couple hours with a blanket wrapped around me to warm up.
Family needed to be fed and bills paid.

I hear ya JAP. I've spent 16 hrs. in a blizzard up in a derrick with nothing but flimsy tarps to block the wind.

I used to get triggered when someone would say "I just LOVE snow!" I would tell them they never had to work out in it, then. It's OK when you're sitting with a snifter of brandy in front of a roaring fireplace looking out through the picture window at the "winter wonderland" but I never found it beautiful. I had to drive on icy roads both to and from the rig, then spend 8 frigid hours - at least- out there grabbing the iron and steel that was ambient temperature but seemed colder, trying to keep things from freezing up.

I tell my lottery friends that if I ever win, I wouldn't move north of the city limits sign here. I wouldn't even buy a winter home in the Rockies even if I could afford it.

Cold, Bring It.

We Love Cold.

I use to live in northern WI and would open the windows in my bed room during the middle of winter and just let that cold, crisp air in.

It's wonderful sleeping in.

-70°F wind chills... amazing.

Our body was designed for cold.
