Container garden

Published:

All the flowers in backyard are doing great. Got to thinking what to do with the buckets and wooden containers that had zucchini in them. Looked through my seeds and pulled out two packets of tomato seed. One was Rutgers and the other was big delicious. Took both packets and seed starting mix out to the deck and topped off a wooden container with the seed starting mix about one inch thick. Took both packets of seeds and broadcast the seed in the container. Topped that off with ¼ inch seed starting mix and patted it down. Must have been at least 100 seeds between the two tomato seed packets. Watered that down. that was about Monday the 24th.

Went out this morning and some of the tomato seeds [12] have sprouted. Up about ¼ inch. will wait until the seedlings are up to about 1 inch and transplant about 20 of the plants.  when they get up to about 3 or 4 inches I will transplant 13 of the best with 1 each in the buckets and wooden containers.

Still time left in the season for the tomatoes to mature. Might as well put something in the unused containers.

In the end I will have entertainment on watching them grow.

I had about 12 or 13 packets of seed left and chucked them into the dust bin. Maybe they will end up on the top of the garbage dump and sprout and grow there. Big Grin
