Thousands pass away each year from different types of flu viruses. Has anyone seen a news blitz in the past about seasonal flu viruses  like we have now with the corona 19?

It has been constant news since it first came out.

Carona is a bit different than other viruses corona virus destroys the parts of the lungs it infects spreads more rapidly and people with underlining conditions is deadly if left untreated.

What other virus was around that people needed respirators and breathing tubes to survive.
