Whats going on this week end. Not lottery hunting thats for sure.
Have some work to do in laundry room. Have a card table in front of washer dryer for stuff. Taking that out. Takes up to much room. The room is only about 8 feet wide which only leave about less than 20 inches to walk thru between washer dryer and card table.
Already have a row of wall cabinets above card table for extra food storage. The wall from exterior garage wall to swing door to garage is about 8 feet long. That is where the wall cabinets are on the 8 foot wall. The wall cabinets are probably 6 feet total. Got the wall cabinets from a remo job that would have gone in dumpster. Got those 5 or 6 years ago.
So I am going to build some base cabinets about 6 feet long and 24 inches wide to go under the wall cabinets. Will cut a piece of birch plywood for counter top 25 inches wide. Will cut a piece of 1 by 2 to seal the visible edge of the plywood so you do not see the laminates in the plwood. Will have one shelf mid-way in the base cabinets for supplies. and of course room for supplies on the floor of the cabinets. Will leave an open front on it , no doors. Going to be a paint job on the cabinet.
Got all the plywood lumber from left over on remo jobs that would have been thrown away. The birch plywood runs about $35.00 a sheet If I needed to buy it for the cabinet. Save about $105.00 on the plywood.
The left over birch plywood pieces are large enough for where I need it in the cabinet.
They take out and throw away a lot of good stuff in remo jobs that go in dumpsters. Too much to bring home for that matter.
You should see the construction plywood that is thrown away in new home sites. Stuff from cut offs from the plywood. When a hurricane warning comes every one is hustling to the builders supply to get plywood for winow coverage at full sheet prices DUHHH.
Comments
Ended up being 5 feet long and the top is 21 inches wide. Had to make modifications to the size according to the plywood pieces I had. Worked out just fine. Do not need a full 24 inch wide top for what it is being used for.
