Click on the link above to read about another salad recall.

I bought one that was pre-washed last year and ended up in the hospital with e-coli and was very sick.

It was called Southwest something (forgot the other part of the name).

Thought about suing Wal-Mart but decided it was too much trouble...that is where I bought it.

Talked to a produce mgr in Harris Teeter about it when I was in there one time and he said that one

had been recalled more than once so now I don't eat pre-washed salads or any other kind that are in a bag.

I buy my salad items and wash them myself!

For more years than I can count I've bought whole lettuce, mostly romaine and washed it. I use a few drops of palmolive green dish detergent dissolved in cool water, swish it a few times then rinse through several water changes. There are probably other products which work better, but the green palmolive has always worked well for me.

I used to never think about getting sick from eating something like that salad but after it
happened to me and i ended up in the hospital I am very careful about everything now!j

Thanks for the washing tip konane!..I have not bought romaine since I was in the hospital
because it was in the salad that made me sick but this one on the news has iceburg in it too.
AND here i thought that was the safe one to use but I do wash it good!

I usually buy romaine from Costco or Publix (their house label), both of which are very careful about sources. The stuff i buy comes in full heads, not chopped. After washing and placing in a gallon zip bag it lasts a good solid week. I hope you're able to have salads without getting sick again.
