My new cast iron skillet
Published:
Updated:
We have not had a cast iron skillet in ages. I got tired of the performance of these modern skillets.
Went and purchased a cast iron skillet yesterday along with a quick strip wheel for my drill. I also purchased 200 grit and 3000 grit sand paper. Spent about an hour grinding and sanding the bottom and inside edges of the skillet.. Got it as smooth as I wanted it and cleaned it up for pre seasoning which I done last night.
Going out now to fry up my first breakfast with it. Bacon and eggs. They say the first thing to fry up in a new skillet is bacon.
Update 10:55____ Bacon turned out uniformly cooked. Eggs fried up nicely except a little crisp around one egg on its side. No amount of sticking that did not amount to much. Not bad for the first fry in the skillet. Need to learn more on heat control.
This is a vid showing the quick strip in use on a skillet. Works really great.
