Not much happening. Spring time is coming so I may decide to do some flower planting in my containers I made for vegetables.

Purchased a new toilet for the hall bath. The old one had a crack nothing serious just a visual flaw. Decided to purchase a chair height toilet which elevated the seat to 17½ inches from the previous height of 15 inches. My wife and I have leg problems so the extra height makes it easier to rise up off the toilet.

Got into removing the old one and installing the new one which I have done in the past. Ran into a problem when I set the toilet onto the flange. When they originally built the house the plumbers did not set the flange properly so the flange bolts would be properly positioned. The flange bolts only slid under the slot to retain the flange bolts just enough to catch. I set the flange bolts into position and set the toilet over the flange bolts. One bolt slipped out of position and would not secure the flange bolt when I tightened the nut.

Messed around trying to jiggle the flange bolt back into position to catch. Ended up breaking the seal on the wax seal between the toilet and the flange. Had to remove the toilet, remove the wax seal and installed another new wax seal on the toilet The flange bolts only had a plastic retainer to hold them in place when setting the toilet. The plastic retainer did not do a good enough job of holding the flange bolt in place.

SOOOO, I left the plastic retainer on the flange bolt, Took a putty knife and used the wax that I removed and filled in the flange cavity where the flange bolts go holding the flange bolt in place keeping it from sliding around easily.

Got the flange bolts properly set and carefully lifted the toilet and positioned over the flange bolts. Lowered the toilet down over the flange bolts and properly secured with washer and nut. 

From there I finished with attaching the water tank to the toilet and reconnected the water. Turned on the water and everything worked fine with no leak in the water connection.

That job turned into a lot longer than I expected.

Three things a plumber needs to know.
1) hot is on the left, cold is on the right.
2) Sh!t runs downhill.
3) Payday is on Friday.
