Yesterday I removed the dryer vent tube that extends to the outside. Removed the flapper piece from the metal tube and cleaned the lint that was hung up on the flapper fins. Cleaned the tube and re installed the vent tube back in place. Flapper fins work fine now.

Will keep out critters from entering vent tube. Snakes, salamanders and what ever.

I think there's supposed to be a screen under them flappers, JAP. A couple of the plastic flappers broke on mine and I had to buy a whole new thingamabob and install it but there was a screen under the flappers on both of them.

Some exhaust vents come with screens and some come without one.
A screen will clog with lint more quickly than one with no screen.
