WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Planet-seekers who have spotted 28 new planets orbiting other stars in the past year say Earth's solar system is far from unique and there could be billions of habitable planets.

I wonder if I can get an interplanetary real estate license.

You can justxploring, but I heard the price of the course is astronomical.
I would gravitate towards getting one for this planet, cause the price is more down to earth.
There's a great school I found right here in Bonita Springs. They are out of this world.
Just some ideas I thought of, floating around in my head.

There is new special on History starting tonight @ 9 PM called Universe, 95% of the universe theoretically is still uncharted. So the possibility of Darth Vader existing is not totally out of the realm. May the schwartz be with you! (Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet in Space Balls)

One thing that we truly can't comprehend is the vastness of the universe.

The Drake equation explains how life could exist on other planets, based on the extremely large numbers of galaxies that have been observed lately.

Just 4 years or so ago, the Hubble telescope saw objects farther out which resembled stars. While the scientists were mulling over the pictures, they realized that those dots were not infact stars, but galaxies. They zoomed in even further and the pics justified their assumption.

Before that moment, the scientific community had agreed to the number of galaxies at about 50 billion. After that finding, they doubled the estimate at about 100 million galaxies, each having atleast a billion stars. Not to mention the countless planets orbiting those suns.

To show a perspective of the numbers, for every grain of sand on every beach on this planet, there are a million stars.

After knowing this, how can any person doubt that there just couldn't be anyone else in this universe, but good old humans....I don't think so.

Funny thing is...I'm pretty sure that there are more than 100 billion galaxies. We''l just have to make stronger telescopes to see them...LOL

I've been studying this whole stuff, since i was just barely 6 or 7 in Iran sleeping on the roof on summer nights looking at the stars. One thing has always boggled my mind, and no one can explain it. I don't expect them to, because they would have to be God in order to.

I've been plagued with so many enigmas about life in many forms and potency. But the number one subject that has baffled me for the longest time is endless space. Here's my question to humans all over the world. How can all of infinite space exist, when the "Job" can never be finished? I use the word job because it has to still be in the working process...NO? It's infinite, meaning it never ends. How can something that can never end have a finality?

For example...If I show you a can of coke, that is a true statement. The job is done. There is nothing more I can do to that can make it more of a can...LOL I can make it larger or smaller, but it's still a can of coke, and that's it...it's a done deal. But the same can't be said for the endless space.

Even for argument sake....A powerful God who has so much power and speed, that it's literally unimaginable by the puny brain of mankind. God is so fast that he can make a trillion to the power of a trillion...a trillion times fast in creating space. But with all due respect, it really doesen't matter how fast he is. The job can never be done. Can you see where I'm going with this? You could be a trillion times faster than god, but it won't matter...

In closing I'd like to make the following statement. No matter how it's possible that this impossible scenario exists, It's real. That freaks me out the most out of this whole thing. It obviously exists, unless there's a rim that's expanding at unbelievable speeds. But then the question is...what's the outer part of the expanding rim that hasn't been created yet? HMMM

I came to a conclusion about 2 years ago. I said to myself, why did anything have to be created at all? I just happened to wake up (born) into this universe that's been there all along. And it it hit me like a train. DUH!! That's it. Problem solved...LOL

Thanx coin toss. good topic.

One final thought. I must say that I may have temporarily deceived myself into believing that I've come to a conclusion on this matter, but what if I'm wrong?

It still doesen't explain how all of "It" exists simultaneously as we speak. It's totally illogical. It's like saying ...I'm not typing away....at this very moment. Either I'm typing, or I'm not, but we all know that in order for everyone to see what I'm writing at this very moment had to have become a reality because of a real person. But this law of space doesen't abide by those rules. It can have it's cake and eat it too...so to speak. It breaks just about every fundamental laws of physics. So I'm basically back to square one.

Endless space "rules" do not abide by all the other circumstances in life which the natural order complies with.

How is endless space enigma allowed to exist, when all other have to comply. For example: In order to have water, you need two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. Deviate from this and no water my friend...LOL No wiggle room....

When a plane's wings are taxed or compromised in just the slightest, bad things can happen. No wiggle room.

But somehow, endless universe gets a break. How? And Why?
