ALMANAC 1947 CArgo ship blows up in Texas w/loss of 600 :-(

1947 CArgo ship Grandcamp  carrying ammonium  nitrate blows up in the harbor in Texas City, Texas , which caught fire and exploded the following day causing 600 deaths.

That was a big old blast, they caught it on film somehow.

There sure are a lot of things that happened in 1947.

A pilot in Washington Stare coined the term flying saucer.

The US Army Air Corps became the US Air Force.

Jackie Robinson played for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

The charter that would allow Israel to become a nation on May 14m 1948 was signed in 1947.

That's just a few of many.
