Richard Dawkins, Existence of God Pt. II

Published:

I present you with the following story.

A man is praying at his bedside, while an angel appears. The angel says that he will lead the man to a place in upstate New York, by a hill, where the man will find under ground, a book, and that there are 2 stone wheels next to the book which the decoding information is embbeded, will enable the man to decipher the words in the book.

After deciphering the book with those two wheels, the angel takes the wheels away with him.

The translation reads that millions of Jews (after jesus' original death 2000 years ago), lived in upstate New York, built a great city, with armies fighting each other, and that Jesus came to visit them during this tribulation.

Do you believe what I just wrote? Of course not. Why? Because first, we know that Jews didn't live in upstate New York a thousand or so years ago. We have no proof of any debris left over from that civilization.

Well...it might sound rediculous to you and me, right?...But just ask any Mormon, and I'll bet they'll spend 4 hours explaing in detail about that event. I know...My sister was a Mormon, and went on a misiion for almost 2 years...

Imagine a bubble with the Mormon religion on the inside of that bubble. Next imagine christians outside the bubble looking at the Mormons on the inside of the bubble as lunatics. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Next we have a story about an Arab who was praying and an angel revealing himself to him. The mans's name was Mohamad. The angel was Gabriel. Gabriel supposedly created a magical horse, and flew him to heaven. Spiritual guides acting as scribes wrote down everything in a book we all know as the Qur'an. Martyrs are taught that if they act out as such, by giving their lives up in the name of God, they will receive 72 virgins in heaven as a reward.

Now put the muslims in a bubble. Imagine all those Mormons, christians, Jews, look at the inhabitants within the bubble thinking they must be crazy people to believe in those myths.72 virgins? Magical horses? C'mon...they're nuts!

If you were in Denmark back in the Viking days, you might be adorning Thor with his hammer. Or if you were born in Africa, you would believe in the Ju JU that lives on the mountain.

Someone asked me, well....what if you're wrong?

My reply was that, what if you're wrong about the JU JU that lives on top of that mountain?

I think myself as more of an Agnostic, hoping that there is a God, but having no evidence.

More rantings to come from a blog i'm on...LOL

BTW! Enjoy the following video...Very objective this Oxford Professer, Richard Dawkins. Even though his title is portrayed as an Athiest, he has in many occasions stated that he is really an Agnostic, because a fair minded scientist will always leave room for doubt. Honesty is important, contrary to religion, which they make  known widely, that they have the end all to the truth.

I forgot to mention that the quotes mentioned above by me were really excerpts of what Dr. Richard Dawkins said. not me. It was oriented that way as to fit a storyline continuation, trying not to break the flow. I figured i'd just explain it later as I'm doing right now....LOL
Sometimes when you're on a roll, you don't want to impede it with semantics. Just explain it later.

Excellent points pac. I like where there is room to get out of trouble, just in case, "Whoopsie God (or Mr. JuJu), I was just kidding!" Because there is one inevitabilty (even the scientists all still agree) we all gotta go sooner or later.

P.S. Richard Dawkins was featured on South Park this past season.

I see your point jarasan, but I don't think he meant to come across the way you portrayed it. In my study of him, it's clear to me that what his point was that that same question of what if you're wrong proposed to any other religion, stating that maybe Ju JU was right and his punishment was an eternal fire in hell. What if Thor's equivalent was being locked up in a basement with an insurance salesman, for all eternity...I don't know....LOL

His point wasn't about having a back up plan as you say. Covering his butt. It's that you must be   accountable e world's religions if your going to do it the right way. So when someone asks me ....What if I'm wrong? Dawkins says...." What if I'm wrong about Thor's teachings, or what if I'm wrong about Ju JU, and on...

Yeah that also, if it is a "different ending" or not who or what you expected you're still covered. But again the end is inevitable, there is no doubt about the end, it is going to happen. The odds are 50/50 you are "done" at "the end" or something else happens, 50/50 simple as that. On the other hand "the end" is a sure bet 100% guaranteed. A true scientist that is intellectually honest (fairminded) can't say what the final enlightment maybe.. Did you ever see the movie Flatliners w/Kieffer Sutherland? That movie was scary.

The inevitability is not the issue at hand. We all know it'll happen someday, but again....that is not the issue here.

If someone asks a person, What if you are wrong? The person will ask the same question. What if you are wrong? That is the basis of the whole thing. Can I expect to be punished if i don't follow the rules of Thor?

Can I be expected to suffer for eternity or whatever, if I don't accept the jewish religion?

Can I be expected to suffer? Which one is correct? You can't answer that. And i don't blame you for not being able to.

If someone is going to ak me that it's possible that my belief system is wrong, I will in turn ask them the same question. Very simple!

"The end" is the answer to this circular argument, that is what I am saying, I like answers.   When a person dies he/she will find out the answer. I am not trying to explain any religion, all I am saying is the agnostic, the atheist, the religious person will all LEARN the answer when they die, which is inevitable, they will have their question answered, including you, I, and everyone else on who is right.

The answer is not within our grasp in this existence, we gotta wait and see, that is the basis of faith. By having faith in something you believe while you are alive is totally cool no matter what it is. It makes living worth living, and if it doesn't happen the way you thought no biggie, you're just gone. You become a memory to those you touched while you were alive, and then they become memories, and so on and so forth....
