Vatican City: Pope Francis  INVITES ALL CHRISTANS TO event in St.Peter's square invited Christians of all dominations to help further the sacred cause of Christian unity.

Speaking during his weekly window appearance to people who had gathered in the Vatican City square, Francis announced  that an ecumenical prayer would take place Sept 30th, a few days before the start of a month long synod that will bring Catholic Bishops around the world  to the Vatican to ponder the future direction of the Church and to rejuvenate it's mission.

Francis told  some 15,000 pilgrims, tourists, and Romans in the square Sunday that God "with His faithfulness   and patience guides his people to full communion among  Christians."

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen stated openly that the mission was not to unite all religions but rather to bring all people of faith together.

* Didn't John Paul have the idea way way back. He invited all religious leaders to the Vatican. Can't find a single scripture where Jesus invited the Scribes & Pharisees or Saducees to a gathering  to hear each other out.
