Thanx for the link Justxploring. I think that there were rumors that Dennis was at one point, starting to write sappy songs, and Tommy wanted to keep that sort of hard rock image. And that's what drove them apart.

The same thing happened with Supertramp. The guitarist was becoming frustrated for the same reasons stated above.
