THE THINGS I'VE HAD TO GIVE UP IN 2007
Well, actually, I quit smoking last year in August. This year I had to give up the following.
-Sugar
-Caffeine in any form
-which meant chocolate
-and coffee
-and my diet coke
-Super salty foods
-uber fatty foods (anything fried)
-driving
-some types of music
-lost a grandmother
-lost friends
-bridges fell between me and my inlaws
-lost my sense of humor
-had to move (don't consider that one such a loss)
-kids' lives got turned upside down (and yes, it was all my fault)
-my independence
-two kinds of medication (Yay!! Was happy to give that one up!) in trade for one.
I did manage to gain something this year. That was a closer connection to my family. Relocating due to health matters also allowed me to be in regular contact with other family members who I had gotten somewhat detached from. I also gained some other things...
-a different perspective
-my dignity back
-my clean conscience
-a deep appreciation for living life to its fullest
-a better appreciation for my own gifts, talents, and nature.
-and even stronger admiration for my GOD.
-I learned not to beat myself up so much
That said, I am almost afraid to say good riddance to 2007 for the fear of 2008. I pray, though, 2008 is much, much better. I want to believe that this next year just might be the year that I quit having panic attacks. The year that I make my mark (in a good way) in history. The year that the underdog gets to win. The year that I bounce back to who I was BEFORE the military got a hold of me. The year I get to have fun again. The year that a new cure is discovered that really does cure something. The year that a politician really does something beneficial for humankind. The year for some kind of good news. I would be interested in what others are looking forward to in 2008.

-Super salty foods ---- yep same here
-uber fatty foods (anything fried) ---- occasionally
-driving ---- not yet
-some types of music ---- hasn't affected me yet but i do have to be careful of some action shows cause my heart to race.
-lost a grandmother ---- no immediate family members passed
-lost friends ------ yep it a constant in life as we get older
-bridges fell between me and my inlaws ---- no problems here
-lost my sense of humor ----- ha ha ha come on cheer up
-had to move (don't consider that one such a loss) --- I want to move but it's not looking good
-kids' lives got turned upside down (and yes, it was all my fault) ---- me too yet i still try and cope with it.
-my independence --- i will try my damndest to hold on to it.
-two kinds of medication (Yay!! Was happy to give that one up!) in trade for one.
ME too! plus and added 3 additional meds.
What i gained medical knowledge beyond my wildest dreams kidneys, heart, and lungs, and a few other assorted organs. A complete diet work up. One step grandchild and one of my own had a son so now i am officially a grand dad. Whom everyone has coined POP POP. What's that phrase if only i known better i would have taken better care of myself. This really hits hard as i was always conscience of it until i turned about 45 then i went down hill.
I really hope things work out for you spy. I will also try and stay abreast of my ageing process.
Thanks for sharing and have a blessed holiday season.
