If, on the other hand, if it does raise the hair on the back of your neck, I hope you forward it to every legal resident in the country including every representative in Washington, D.C. - five times a week for as long as it takes to restore some semblance of intelligence in our policies and enforcement thereof.

I realize there are many wonderful people who just want to feed their families, but crime has gone off the charts and is directly related to illegal aliens. However, I also blame our system for not doing a better job. A sheriff was interviewed on the local news talking about how, when someone is arrested for not having a license, he gets processed and released and then that same person might use a different name and address the next time he is caught, so the system doesn't track him. Why should that even be an issue? This was the same for more serious crimes. So my question is, doesn't law enforcement take fingerprints? I was confused when I watched this news report. After the first violation, someone's prints should be on file. Maybe I watch CSI too much. :-)

I won't get into the food assistance programs since such a comment might touch nerves. In my heart I believe every person deserves shelter and food, but I know of several families who moved here from Mexico (they came here legally on work visas) and are getting assistance. Then if their children move in with them, they qualify for even more money. Then the parents come over and they get even a larger refund. This comes from taxes we've paid for many years. Depending on the state, if someone on a green card loses his/her job, unemployment compensation will be paid. Again, I'm not saying people should not be treated fairly if they don't break the law (I know you are talking about illegals) but I've had neighbors who come here only to work and send money home and don't have any intention of staying in the US. But they get all the benefits of people who have worked and live here all their lives and do want to stay here to retire and live out their golden years which are losing their glitter for most of us.

Regarding amnesty that some politicians suggest, what about paying back all the taxes not deducted for 10 years or more? You might have seen the story about the kitchen worker in FL whose money was confiscated by Customs. I felt badly for him, but people should not think they can come here, work at a job for years, not pay a dime in tax, and then sneak back "home" with a bag full of money.

Here is a little fact what illegal immigration does to wages.
I work in the construction industry. To do framing labor to build a house the bidding area for american run frame contractors was from 8 to 10 dollars a sguare foot to frame a house. These contractors and their employees are now out of work.
Why.
Mexican carpenters have come in and bid framing jobs at the rate of $2.75 to $3.00 per sguare foot of house area. That is about 70% less than what american workers were charging.
Is this cost saving passed on to the consumer when they buy these houses.
No.
The builders are taking the cost savings and putting it in their pocket.

I like your posts except for THIS one bec. it is OUTRAGEOUS.

We are spending ONE MILLION DOLLARS A MINUTE on the war on IRAQ!

THOU SHALT NOT KILL!

I'm not worried at ALL about so called "illegal" immigrants. Why? Two reasons! One, our country belonged to the Native American Indian so we are ALL "illegal"-- you AND me.

Two, you know who I am worried about? I'm worried about the LEGAL people among us who are doing HORRIBLE things with our Federal Budget, our boys abroad, robbing us of our very Constitution and our precious Bill of Rights.

Everything else is a smoke screen.
