Do you know what happened in Bonita last night? Can't find anything on the news. Not joking. Police sirens, helicopters, high speed chase...all woke me up this morning at about 1.   I finally fall asleep after 30 years and there's a high speed chase through my neighborhood. Even my neighbor who sleeps like a rock (never woke up during Charley) was outside. I said that maybe if there's a murderer running around, we should stay inside with the doors locked! I live in a very quiet neighborhood, but I wonder if something happened at 7-11.   One copter was hovering over my home. They were searching for a long time, so something bad must have happened. For a second I thought the aliens from the X-Files were coming for me, but they didn't beam me up.

Pac, this article is supposed to be encouraging news! They failed to mention that the jobless rate is down because people are moving out.

"Unemployment declined slightly in Lee County to 6.1 percent in February, the first decline in a year, according to state data released today. The jobless rate was 6.3 percent in January, according to the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation. In February 2007, the jobless rate was 3.5 percent."

Do they give any info on who is moving out.

Yup, Pac. We posted at the same time. I just looked at a couple of those "$99,000" short sales in Lehigh and I wouldn't live there if the home was 1/2 of that price. Maybe there are nicer sections, but..... The only negative thing I can find in SC is the 7% state income tax. It also has a very high unemployment rate.   I ya'll don't want any more halfbacks like me, but we're all Americans!

Typo - I meant "I realize" ya'll don't want any more halfbacks like me, but we're all Americans! Just kidding anyway. Greenville is pretty. I still like in here, but the economy is horrible and homes are still very, very expensive.

I loved that video, Pac. Maybe I should go to Golden Gate or Immokalee (or Sweetbay in Bonita) wearing a sign and stand by the side of the road.

You don't have to go all the way there justx, just go to the 7-11 on the corner of terry and old 41...lol Good luck though, there's usually about 30 of them standing around. What breaks my heart is that it really isn't funny when hard workers really need to put food on the table and can't.

I don't know if you noticed, but I think once a week or so, on the corner around old 41, across from that ampitheater/park, they have a food distribution for poor families. I see a long line of people waiting to get food. I gues someone has a real big heart or it's some kind of community pitch-in to help, nevertheless it's nice of them.

The other thing is that sometimes when I go into that 7-11, they kind of stare at me as though I want to pick up someone to work for me. I'm drive a white dodge caravan and it's just me in there so they think I'm there to pick up people...lol

Pac, I wasn't making fun of anyone. I was thinking of the video you posted. Yes, that intersection in Old Bonita has been like that for a very long time. Once I attended a church service off of Reynolds and got lost on the way, so I stopped at that 7-11 and nobody spoke a word of English. They were all very nice however.   

Maybe they don't stare at you because of the white van. It could be that Lottery Post hat or that classic thong.

Thongs are way too uncomfortable. It gets annoying stuck up that crack for hours and hours.
