Good for you - just an FYI. If you keep your cards open and just pay them off, it actually might increase your credit score if that's your goal. I was going to cancel a card with a high limit, but I was told that by having all that credit available and showing I have a zero balance, it indicates I'm responsible and raises my score. (or not)   Sound ridiculous, doesn't it?

there's also another reason for canceling it and i've done this before. I have paid these off before and said to myself, "i'll keep it just for an emergencies.", but as time goes on i find myself convincing myself in a self reinforcing delusion by rationalizing some purchase at some point that it's just this one time. i'll paid it off soon as i have the money and time... then $4,000.00 later i'm wondering how i got myself in the hole again. NOT THIS TIME. that's the top reason for canceling 'em.

it's funny too, when i call the card holding company... boy do they want to keep me, "uh, we have some coupons or 15% off you next purchase."... no just CANCEL IT... BYE!!! Because they know they are making sheet loads of cash on this. Now that annuity is gone, Awe...

here's one that should have been a clue they're out to rape us... i had made a big payment on my home depot card, but it didn't cover the complete balance amount and there was like 6 dollars and some change left to pay. i thought, ok i'll let it slide till next time because it's a small amout and i plan on making a purchase during this period. i got my statement and HOLY-SHEET... they charged me a $39.00 late TAX (fee) on 6 dollars and change... WHAT THE F@#K!!!! You're MF gone, bye.

So, they are all going. i had enough of the TAXES (fees) and other BULLSHEET.
