VS 6 to VS 2008

Published:

I've been saving for an upgrade to my VS 6; looks like the VS 2008 is slowly dropping in price. Looks like I may have to go to VS 2008 Full Professional version. I see a lot of things in there that can help coding far beyond my old VS 6. A few more weeks of saving should work.

This has absolutely no impact on my paying off my dread-it cards as the source of income is not from my standard income of work and rental property.

Don't wait for it -- you can download the Express version for FREE. Yes, it doesn't have the "professional" features, but you'll be amazed at all the powerful stuff it DOES have.

You can also download an Express version of SQL 2005 -- an incredibly awesome database. There are other freebies as well.

Here you go: http://www.microsoft.com/express/

Thanks Todd, I've looked in to it and might install it on my sons laptops. My older son will be graduating this June; he will be going to a 2 year Tech and has decided on Programmer Analysis as his field of study. Due to some potential compatibility issues using VS 2008 Express I might not be able to do certain C++ programming with some non-MS software. It's been tested with VS 2008 Express, but there are some aspects of the programming that have a potential fall though and VS 2008 Professional will definitely work with the non-MS software.
