A-Hole-L

Published:

Well, looks like A-HOLE-L is kicking everyone off their FTP Space.

I'll have to find a different server to store my EXE's.

Or do I?

Looks like this move to Minnesota has already prepared me for this.

Bat

I was ready long before the announcement.

Cool

I haven't heard that acronym for AOL before, but it certainly does fit the bill. You should check out the ISP services offered by your local cable company. Many times they include some web space that you can use to store files. Good luck.

I've also heard it called A-O-Hell. I've already checked into my current ISP and I'm working on getting the available space ready for the move. It also looks like I have a Static IP address; where as with ATT I had a Dynamic IP. This could promote some interesting Web options I didn't have before with ATT.

However, as it relates to LP, all the links and graphic linked references that go to A-Hole-L, they are now going to be invalid. People viewing pages I've created are going to be of poor quality with missing pictures and links.

If you have pictures to post, I usually recommend posting them in your premium member space. At least that's one area that won't change, and I do back it up.

You can host something with a dynamic IP address almost as easily as with a static IP. Simply use a DDNS (Dynamic DNS) company that continuously updates your DNS record, and it will work very well. (A popular example is dyndns.com.) Most home routers sold these days come with built-in support for dyndns.com and others, so you don't even have to run a program on your PC.
