This is a list of words and phrases that should be banned from advertising and marketing use.

Advertisers and Marketers use and abuse these words to get you buy.

They seem to work, so, they are deemed: magic.

Three of these magic words and phrases are the most abused words of all.

They are: Free, New and Sale.

* (used to hide additional information the might otherwise derail the sale and usually in very small print with a color that is in a bad contrast background so it's hard for you to notice.)

When I worked in retail, I hated quoting everything ending in "99." That bedroom set is on sale for $1,999.00"   Hey, it's $2,000 bucks. :-)

you're right about the misleading 9's abuse. you'll also notice that when drawing a 9 in advertising they try to make the loop in the 9 as big as possible to make it look like a zero, 0.

Here's another one, "Buy one get one Free." NO MORON, it's 50% Offff, figgin' idiot. In fact any offer thats 'Buy (something) get (something) Free' is a BS statement. If you have to Buy something to get something, IT'S NOT FREE (PERIOD).
