My back has been bothering me for the past few days.  I've been taking painkillers ever since, but they are doing nothing to help.  I think it's the matresses in my grandpa's house.  I swear he hasn't changes them since the second world war.  I'm also constipated.  I have a feeling those are connected somehow.

the painkillers are connected to the constipation.i am gussing you are either taking vicodin or percocet.if you are taking something mild like darvocet its not going to help your back the way you want it to.

sleep on the floor with no mattress. use a small pillow and just do it for a few days.

Take a hot soak in the tub with 1 cup of epsom salts. Helps relieve muscle aches and pains.

Some veg-fiber product such as Metamusil might help the constipation... or some mineral oil. JAP69 and Starchile's suggestions might well help the back, but if it's a kink, you might also try lying on your back, bring one knee up to your chest while keeping your shoulders firmly on the floor, and bending the spine at the hips putting, first one knee, then the other on the floor near your armpit.

Works for me, usually.
