The interesting thing is that you already have to log in to that site in order to comment, so getting rid of trouble makers wouldn't be a problem with their email and IP addresses in hand. The comments are currently un-moderated. A staff member could monitor comments for bad behavior. So they don't really have a problem do they?

The aim here is to stifle comments that bring attention to the lies in an article. Local media tell the same lies that the big boys do. Gov't-approved talking points.

As many comments to that article pointed out, there is a danger of retribution by someone who doesn't like your comment and has your name and city....including gov't agencies. With phony hate laws and the 1st amendment being shredded, of course people are going to be leery of having a gov't goon knock down their door at 3 AM to arrest and abduct them just because they don't buy the lies.
