I can remember back years ago when I was younger when families stored food for future use during lean times. You either purchased your food supplies for storage or you canned and prepared food for storage. Sometimes up to a two year supply of food.
This bunker thing is a bit extreme in my opinion. As long as you have suitable storage for your food supplies you would not need a bunker for that. If a natural disaster happen in your living area your bunker or food storage could be ruined anyhow.
As far as a bunker goes if all hell breaks out with shooting and riots I would not want to be in a position to have to defend a bunker. It would be a lose lose situation defending it alone. You could also get starved out or lack of water over time and you still would need to get back into the real world.
As far as all hell breaking out with shooting and riots I would want the option to move about and join forces with like minded individuals for defense.

Years ago, the govt was more aligned with the governed. Now, the governed are simply another resource to be exploited. "Resources" dependent on govt make for loyal voters. One thing is certain, they'll come after retirement accounts before they come after stored food.

It's funny. We never considered it 'prepping' but always have canned food, and then ate from our stored food for years (some jelly's)... but I suppose in a way that is what we have always done... that and rotating our food stocks. YIKES the amount of salsa and bbq sauce we have canned from LAST year will last ALL our family and friends for seemingly eons!

It's totally natural to store food for leaner times. Animals do it so it must be a natural survival instinct.

I agree that the 'escape to bunker' approach may not be the best one. But moving away from population centers might be a good idea.

On the other hand, the e-lites have bunkers all over the country....let's ask them about their need for underground bunkers and seed banks.

Having a network of like minded people never hurts, Knowing how to grow food, kill food, collect water and purify it, know where your local library is, wealth of info, if theres no power, know your streams and rivers, secondary roads.
Advanced first aid...TRUST NO ONE NOT IN YOUR INNER CIRCLE.
