You could say by their cutting off the water supply in that California agricultural valley matches what the Dams did in the new deal in the story.
The tobacco tax imposed in 2009. Who forgot about that?
Can anyone else think of excise taxes or fees imposed on the poor in the last 4 years?
Where are the jobs?

They always go after the smokers in TN.

They hate 'em and won't let them smoke anywhere but they're happy to let them pay the lion's share of the cost to educate their kids.

What the hell you people just want the crazies to run a mock.Yes but the Black sharecroppers was working from sun up to sun down and was still poor, so you see to come in and make them pay some kind of minimum wage to people that was working only for room and board. It was great for the very, very ,very tried peoples to finally get something for their hard work. I will be the first to say "SHUT IT " unless you had the experience.I look at it as a good program.

There were many non black sharecroppers too Louise.
You do not really know my experiences of being broke and at times having a few extra dollars now and then but was used up during broke times. I know what it is to make a living being a sodbuster. My father even worked the farm using a team of horses.
So do not discredit me for not having the experience.

My intentions of posting this article was to compare policies from the new deal to the policies of gov't that have been set in place over the years. I singled out policies in the past 4 years in my comment to this article as it is current comparison. However there have been many policies set in place over the years that compare to the new deal no doubt by all political parties.

Welfare destroys people and families.
It kills ambition and drive and innovation and the impetus to excel.
It creates ghettoes full of fat lazy people who's only ambition is to get more welfare.
We could see the end of ghettoes if we end welfare and concentrate on jobs and that means getting government out of the way. And the people would feel better about themselves as contributing members of society.
Giving people free money isn't doing them or us any favors in the long run.
II Thessalonians 3:10 "...if any would not work, neither should he eat."
