Barack Obama on Gun Control
http://www.ontheissues.org/Domestic/Barack_Obama_Gun_Control.htm
excerpt:
Q: When you were in the state senate, you talked about licensing and registering gun owners. Would you do that as president?
A: I don’t think that we can get that done. But what we can do is to provide just some common-sense enforcement. The efforts by law enforcement to obtain the information required to trace back guns that have been used in crimes to unscrupulous gun dealers. As president, I intend to make it happen. We essentially have two realities, when it comes to guns, in this country. You’ve got the tradition of lawful gun ownership. It is very important for many Americans to be able to hunt, fish, take their kids out, teach them how to shoot. Then you’ve got the reality of 34 Chicago public school students who get shot down on the streets of Chicago. We can reconcile those two realities by making sure the Second Amendment is respected and that people are able to lawfully own guns, but that we also start cracking down on the kinds of abuses of firearms that we see on the streets.

Yes it looked good from that standpoint back then, but his points fell moot when he assumed the role of President.
Show me once where he has respected the Constitution. It's all hooey to me...!
Jan15 , 2008 debate. he had to be center stage, or he might have kicked over the podium.!

Unfortunately all the gun law enacted or considered address only the law abiding citizen. When our politicians decide to attack the problem of violent people owning guns will I support any gun law.

I feel that life in prison without parole for anyone who uses a firearm while committing a crime would do much to reduce the violence.

One thing I have learned with listening to Obama or reading transcripts of what he said is to watch every word or sentence. He leaves himself open to change on what he says directly on the subject at the time.
He answered one question about gun control and the start of the next sentence he used the word (but).
"But what we can do is to provide just some common-sense enforcement"

"We’ve got to make sure that unscrupulous gun dealers aren’t loading up vans and dumping guns in our communities, because we know they’re not made in our communities."

Those are a couple examples just from this linked article.
The first quote could mean a variety of regulations for gun control.
The second quote could mean regulations on transporting guns from the manufacturer to point of sale.

If crooks want guns they will find a way to obtain them.
Or with the tools available today they could make their own.
