And at the statue unveiling, the liberals of Florence were marching in protest that the funds used to commission the statue of David could have been used to provide gubmint mozzarella for the downtrodden. One of the leaders of the march was heard to yell out to Michelangelo: "You didn't build that! Somebody else made that happen!"
