Metal detector enthusiast

Published:

Watching one of my favorite shows on National Geographic and seen an ad for an upcoming new show.

"Diggers" Tues Jan 22nd @ 10 pm. ( check your local listing )

See how this show goes. I am an amateur digger but have not been out in some time. I was up to the outer banks a couple years ago and found a penny on the beach. Green laugh

I have not really found a helluva lot the few times I have been out.

What do you think of that guy in Australia finding that 13 lb gold nugget in the gold fields recently? Just a newbie detector too. Big Grin

Do not forget to pick up the pieces of meteroites you find if you live in meteroite drop zones. Those chunks are worth some bucks too.

Always wanted to try that in my area. Should be able to find some Civil War relics possibly even on my property. I've checked out the detectors online though and there were so many with so many different applications that I didn't even know where to start.

I use a metal detector that was gotten from radio shack with a three mode discriminator. Not that expensive for the amount of times I use it a year to look for stuff. If I was an avid detector user I would consider a higher end model. Plus I would have one of those little rod like detectors for searching the hole and dirt dug out.

Jap, some great places to metal detect are under bleachers, especially where they have little league games, parents are always reaching into their pockets for snack money for the siblings, also, watch where snow plows pile up the snow, the spring thaw is a great place for gold and coins. Plus fence lines or where there's bushes, near shops and stores, it catches any paper money, just push the garbage and leaves around, we always find paper money at the tree line near work, it blows over from the walgreens and steak and shake. I found 17 bucks the other day.
Good luck

Almost forgot, parking lots are great places to find jewelry, an early morning walk can be very profitable, bars, taverns and saloons are also great places to find loot, got to go early though.
