These are some of the findings of a two-year investigation by The Washington Post that discovered what amounts to an alternative geography of the United States, a Top Secret America hidden from public view and lacking in thorough oversight. After nine years of unprecedented spending and growth, the result is that the system put in place to keep the United States safe is so massive that its effectiveness is impossible to determine.

A three year old article and many in America are still unaware of the magnitude of what is happening,

The 9/11 attack in NY city done more to this country than can be imagined.

I was aware of the magnitude the day George Bush uttered the word "security" in the statement "We will establish The Dept. of Homeland Security". With one decision he made Jimmy Carter look like a piker.
