Gene Autry Lyrics (Some).

Published:

I'm sad, I got the blues,
Can't shake the sands of Texas from my shoes.

I sigh, and don't know why,
I guess I got those dear old Texas blues.

The smell of the rain, the roll of the plain,
The feel of my seat in the saddle.
I'd give all I own if I could be home,
Back on the range punchin' cattle.

I guess I got the blues,
Can't shake the sands of Texas from my shoes.
----
I`m back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again

Ridin` the range once more
Totin` my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again

Whoopi-ty-aye-oh
Rockin` to and fro
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-yay
I go my way
Back in the saddle again

I`m back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again

Ridin` the range once more
Totin` my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again

Whoopi-ty-aye-oh
Rockin` to and fro
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-yay
I go my way
Back in the saddle againI`m back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again

Ridin` the range once more

Frosty the Snowman
Was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And his eyes made out of coal.

Frosty the Snowman
May the children laugh and play
And were they surprised when before their eyes
He came to life that day.

There must have been some magic
In that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around.

Oh, Frosty the Snowman
Was alive as he could be
And the children say
He could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me.

Frosty the Snowman
Knew the sun was hot that day
So he said let's run
And we'll have fun.
Before I melt away.

So down to the village
With a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there all around the square
Saying catch me if you can.

He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cops
And he only paused a moment when
He heard him holler stop.

Frosty the Snowman
Had to hurry on
But he waved goodbye
Saying don't you cry.

I'll be back again some day
Thumpety, thump, thump
Thumpety, thump, thump.

Look at Frosty go
Thumpety, thump, thump
Thumpety, thump. thump
Over the hills of snow.

You Know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
Comet, cupid, and Donner and Blitzen.
but do you recall? The most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the red nose reindeer
(reindeer)
had a very shiny nose
(like a lightbulb)
and if you ever saw it
(saw it)
you would even say it glows
(like a flashlight)
all of the other reindeer
(reindeer)
used to laugh and call him names
(like pinochio)
they never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games
(like monopoly)
then one foggy Christmas eve, Santa came to say
(in his underwear)
Rudolph with your nose so brigh,
wont you kill my wife tonight?
then all the reindeer loved him
and they shouted out with glee
YIPEE!!!
Rudolph the rednose reindeer,
you'll go down in history!!
(like Abe Lincoln!!)

Ho ho ho ho ho ho
Up on the ohoue top ho ho ho
Up on the house top reindeers paused
Out jumps good old Santa Claus
Down through the chimney with lots of toys
All part of a little ones with Christmas joys

Oh oh oh who wouldnt go? Oh ho ho who wouldnt go?
Up on the housetop
Click click click
Down to the chimney with the good St. Nick
First come the stop in the middle bell
Hope dear Santa feeling well
Give her a doll in the laps and cries one that can open and shut it tight

Oh ho ho who wouldnt go Oh ho ho who wouldnt go?
Up on the house top, click click click
Down to the chimney with good St. Nick

Look in the stop in the middle bell
Hope just sees what a glorious well
Heres a little hammer and lots of pact
A wissle and a ball and a wood clap clap
Oh ho ho who wouldt go? Oh ho ho who wouldnt go?
Up on the house top, click click click
Down through the chimney with the good St. Nick
Oh oh ho who wouldnt go? Oh ho ho who wouldnt go?
Up on the house top, click click click
Down through the chimney with good St. Nick (repeat this line once)

Way out west in Texas, it's where I long to be
Ridin' on the prairie with a good horse under me
For three long years I've bumed around, my heart is sad and blue
I'm goin' back to the wooly West where your friends are always true

[Yodel]

Well, way out west in Texas where the atmosphere is light
You roll up in your blanket on the prairie every night
Where the rattlesnakes and the old horned toads, they sleep right by your side
On the desert sands of Texas, it's where I long to ride.

[Yodel]
[Instrumental of Verse]

Well, way out west in Texas around that old camp fire
We sing the songs of long ago and strum on my guitar
My heart is ever yerning, but I will be there soon
I'll settle down in Texas when the cactus is in bloom

[Instrumental of Verse]

Well, a way out west in Texas, round up in the spring
You'll hear me sing this little song while ridin' on the range
Broadway lights (hue to you?) moon light suits me fine
I'll settle down in Texas, I'll leave my blues behind

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
And I hung my head and cried

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

I'll always love you and make you happy
If you will only say the same
But if you leave me to love another
You'll regret it all some day

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

You told me once dear, you really loved me
And no one else dear, could come between
But now you've left me and love another
You have shattered all my dreams

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

Yippie-I-ay, yippie-I-o
Ghost riders in the sky

An old cowpoke went ridin' out one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw
Plowin' through the ragged sky, and up a cloudy draw

Yippie-I-ay, yippie-I-o
Ghost riders in the sky

Their brands were still on fire and their hoofs were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
for He saw the riders commin' hard, and he heard their mournful cry

Yippie-I-ay, yippie-I-o
Ghost riders in the sky

Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred,
Their shirts all soaked with sweat.
They're ridin' hard to catch that herd, but they aint caught 'em yet'
'Cause they must ride forever on that range up in the sky,
On horses snorting fire, as they ride on, hear their cry.

Yippie-I-ay, yippie-I-o
Ghost riders in the sky

As the riders loped on by him, he heard one call his name
If you wanta to save your soul from hell aridin' on our range,
Then cowboy change your ways today, or with us you will ride,
Tryin' to catch the devil's herd, across these endless skies

Yippie-I-ay, yippie-I-o
Ghost riders in the sky
Ghost riders in the sky

Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam
Where the deer and the antelope play,
Where seldom is heard, a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day.

Home, home on the Range;
Where the deer and the antelope play;
Where seldom is heard, a discouraging word,
And the skies are not cloudy all day.

Where the air is so pure and the zephyrs so free
And the breezes so balmy and light
That I would not exchange my home on the range
For all of the cities so bright

Home, home on the Range;
Where the deer and the antelope play;
Where seldom is heard, a discouraging word,
And the skies are not cloudy all day.

How often at night when the heavens are bright
With the light of the glittering stars
I stand there amazed and I ask as I gaze
Does their glory exceed that of ours?

Home, home on the Range;
Where the deer and the antelope play;
Where seldom is heard, a discouraging word,
And the skies are not cloudy all day.

THERE'S A GOLD MINE IN THE SKY
Recorded by Gene Autry
Written by Nick Kenny and Charles Kenny

[D] There's a Gold mine in the sky, [D7] far a-[G] way
We will [D] find it, you and I, some sweet [A] day
There'll be [D] Clover just for you, [D7]  down the [G] line
Where the [D] skies are always [A] Blue, [A7] pal of [D] mine.

Take your [G] time, old mule, I know you're growin' [D] lame
But you'll pasture [D7] in the stars
[E] When we [E7] strike that [A] claim
And we'll [D] sit up there and watch [D7] the world roll [G] by
When we [D] find that long lost [A] Gold mine in the [D] sky.

Far a-[G] way, far a-[D] way
We will find that [D7] long lost Gold [E] mine some sweet [A] day
And we'll [D] say hello to friends [D7] who said good-[G] bye
When we [D] find that long lost [A] Gold mine in the [G] sky.

Now the hacienda's dark, the town is sleeping
Now the time has come to part the time for weeping
Vaya con dios my darling
Vaya con dios my love,

Now the village mission bells are softly ringing
If you listen with your heart you'll hear them singing
Vaya con fios my darling
Vaya con dios my love.

Whereever you may be I'll be beside you
Al-though you're many million dreams away
Each night I'll aay a prayer, a prayer to guide you
To hasten every lonely hour of every lonely day.

Now the dawn is breaking through a grey tomorrow
But the memories we share are there to borrow
Vaya con dios my darling
Vaya von dios my love.

Vaya con dios my darling
Vaya con dios my love...

I've got spurs that
Jingle, jangel, jingle
As I go riding merrily along.

And they sing, 'Oh, ain't you
Glad you're single?'
And that song ain't
So very far from wrong.

Oh, Lillie Belle! Oh, Lillie Belle
Though I may have done some fooling
This is why I never fell.

I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle
As I go riding merrily along.

And they sing, 'Oh, ain't you
Glad you're single?'
And that song ain't
So very far from wrong.

Oh, Lillie Belle! Oh, Lillie Belle
Though I may have done some fooling
This is why I never fell.

I got spurs that
Jingle, jangle, jingle
As I go riding merrily along...

I found my thrill on blueberry hill
On blueberry hill when I found you
The moon stood still on blueberry hill
And lingered until my dreams came true.

The wind in the willow played
Love's sweet melody
But all of those bows we made
Were never to be.

Though we're apart
You're part of me still
For you were my thrill
On blueberry hill.

The wind in the willow played
Love's sweet melody
But all of those vows we made
Were never to be.

Though we're apart
You're part of me still
For you were my thrill
On blueberry hill...

In a vine covered shack in the mountains
Bravely fighting the battle of time
There's a dear one who's weathered life's sorrows
It's that silver haired daddy of mine.

If I could recall all the heartaches
Dear old daddy, Ive caused you to bear
If I could erase those lines from your face
And bring back the gold top your hair.

If God would but grant me the power
Just to turn back the pages of time
I'd give all I own if I could but atone
To that silver haired daddy of mine.

I know it's to late, dear old daddy
To repay for the sorrows and cares
Tho' dear mother is waiting in Heaven
Just to comfort and solace you there.
--
See them tumbling down
Pledging their love to the ground
Lonely but free I'll be found
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.

Cares of the past are behind
No where to go, but I'll find
Just where the trail will wind
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.

I know when night has gone
That a new world's born at dawn
I'll keep rolling along
Deep in my heart is a song
Here on the range I belong
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.

I know when night has gone
That a new world's born at dawn
I'll keep rolling along
Deep in my heart is a song
Here on the range I belong
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds...

You and me in the arms of the twilight on the trail
Making camp along the way
You and me in the arms of the twilight on the trail
At rest at the end of the day.

The stars overhead
With their message unsaid
The glow from the fire in our eyes
The wind through the trees,
A warm southern breeze
The Earth is embraced by the skies.

You and me in the arms of the twilight on the trail
On the trail to paradise.

The night gathers in
We lazily spin
On an ocean of peaceful dreams
The great Northern light
In unbridled delight
Dances the dance of kings.

You and me in the arms of the twilight on the trail
On the trail to paradise.

On the trail to paradise...

I drove a herd of cattle down from old Nebraska way
That's how I come to be in the state of Iowa
I met a gal in Iowa, her eyes were big and blue
I asked her what her name was, she said Sioux City Sue.

Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
Your hair is red, your eyes are blue
I'd swap my horse and dog for you
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue.

There ain't no gal as true as my sweet Sioux City Sue
I asked her if she had a beau
She said, "Yes quite a few."
But still I started courtin' my sweet Sioux City Sue.

The first time that I stole a kiss, I caught her stealing two
I asked her did she love me, She said "Indeed I do."
Sioux City Sue.

Your hair is red, your eyes are blue
I'd swap my horse and dog for you
Sioux City Sue.

There ain't no gal as true as my sweet Sioux City Sue
Now I'm admitting Iowa, I owe a lot to you
'Cause I come from Nebraska to find Sioux City Sue.

I'm gonna rope and tie her up, I'll use my old laso
I'm gonna put my brand on, my sweet Sioux City Sue
Sioux City Sue.

Your hair is red, your eyes are blue
I'd swap my horse and dog for you
Sioux City Sue.

There ain't no gal as true as my sweet Sioux City Sue...

Mexicali rose, stop crying
I'll come back to you some sunny day
Every night you know that I'll be pineing
Every hour of year while you're away.

Dry those big brown eyes and smile dear
Banish all those tears and please don't cry
Kiss me once again and hold me
Mexico rose, goodbye.

Mexicali rose, I'm leaving, don't feel blue
Mexicali rose, stop grieving, I love you
When the dove of love is winging through the blue
All the castles you've been building will come true.

Mexicali rose, stop crying
I'll come back to you some sunny day
Every night you know that I'll be pineing
Every hour of year while you're away.

Dry those big brown eyes and smile dear
Banish all those tears and please don't cry
Kiss me once again and hold me
Mexico rose, goodbye...

Mule train!, (Haw!), mule train! (*)
Clipity-clopin' over hill and plain
Seems as how they never stop
Clipity-clop, clipity-clop
Clipity-clipity, clipity-clipity
Clipity-clopin along.

There's a plug of chawin' tabaccer
For a rancher in Corona
A guitar for a cowboy
Way out in Arizona
A dress of Calico
For a pretty Navajo
Git along mule, git along.

Mule train!, (Haw!), mule train! (*)
Clipity-clopin' along the mountain range
Soon they're gonna reach the top
Clipity-clop, clipity-clop
Clipity-clipity, clipity-clipity
Clipity-clopin' along.

There's some cotton, thread and needles
For the folks a-way out yonder
A shovel for a miner
Who left his home to wander
Some rhumatism pills
For the settlers in the hills
Git along mule, git along.

Mule train!, (Haw!), mule train! (*)
Clipity-clopin' thru the wind and the rain
They'll be goin' till they drop
Clipity-clop, clipity-clop
Clipity-clipity, clipity-clipity
Clipity-clopin' along.

There's a letter full of sadness
It's black around the border
A pair of boots for someone
Who had 'em made to order
A bible in the pack
For the Reverend Mr. Black
Git along mule, git along...

Note: [*] = Whip/Pop sound

Well, I might-a-gone fishin', I been thinkin' it over
The road to the river is a mighty long way
It must be the season, no rhyme or no reason
Just takin' it easy, it's my lazy day.

Well, never mind callin' 'cause I ain't a-comin'
Just pass on by me - stay out of my way
'Cause a little deep thinkin' might drive me to drinkin'
Just takin' it easy, it's my lazy day.

I'm findin' it easy to mind my own business
I'm keepin' my nose out of ev'ryone's way
I'm takin' no orders, ain't hirin' no people
Just takin' it easy, it's my lazy day.

Just takin' it easy, it's my lazy day.
