Our take on it is something like this.

There's a room everyone is in and there's a big turd on the floor that keeps getting bigger and smellier.

Everyone knows about it or at the very least can smell something is wrong.

There's been talk about it, articles about it, shows about it, but by now everyone is so acclimated to it they've pretty much got use to it.

They turn and look at it and turn back; going along with the smell.

We walk in the room, take on whiff and say, "Seriously? You people can see and smell this."
