I wonder why he can't speak to any of his lotto pool members?  A lot of pertinent info is missing.

It doesn't matter what was Forged! Forged is just that, FORGED! If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck! End of story!

Ahh a person who sees things with no grey area.

Pardon if I find the concept of forgery to be a bit more intrigueing then a duck that quacks.

Interesting news article none the less.

I also find forgery interesting. But there is nothing gray about it! There is no such thing as a gray area when it comes to something being Forged! Forged is just that, FORGED! It's a Fake, it has no value, how can you see any Gray there? "You Can't".

Oh, wait a minute, "Yes there is some gray", The Freaking Color Of His Jail Cell Walls!

Are you looking through rose colored glasses or something? Because if you are, it's still no excuse for not deciding one-way or the other! It's Right or it's Wrong, You go up or you go down, you go to the right or you go to the left! You sound like a Gray person, that stands in the middle, never going right or left, never going up or down and never makes a decision of any kind! That sure as hell must be one dull life you lead! Oh chit, I almost forgot, "You see everything through rose colored glasses"!

Keep dreaming the impossible dream, it just may come true! Thumbs Up

Actually, there isn't much between a forgery and a duck that quacks.  The output of both is smelly and of no value.

All TheGameGrl said was she finds the concept of forgery intriguing.

        Chill out.

I think we all take a turn wearing those rose colored glasses every time we buy lottery tickets.

I hope he wasn't going through all that trouble to split the $853,000 with his fellow pool members. It might have been one of them that set him up with the forged ticket to cash hoping that once they got their share if any thing came down, he would have to take the fall all by himself.

I find it hard to believe that someone would chance going to jail just so their coworkers could have some extra spending money.

rjoh i would just like to add a few words directly to the point that i think it is very kind and decent of you thinking of something nice to say about this discussion some people are ready to start slinging their jokes and funny lol's i personally went thru a terrible ordeal about the same matter and i was never really quite the same for a long time there are innocent bystanders out there along the way i know that for certain and as i say''if you don't walk in the shoe it is really hard to guess the size nice speaking to you

Now I gotta be "fair" to a duck?  I'm going to fail all kinds of nice guy tests in the next few years.  These "darn" geese are every where around here.  AFLAC aside, they are useless.  Bleeding hearts even try to protect them.  A person can't hardly walk from the parking lot to the office because of the droppings.  Some one said two pounds a day.  THe only good thing I can say about them, they don't crap while flying.  They do make a mess in the radiator when you hit them though.

            Cheers

PENNSYLVANIA LOTTERY THWARTS ATTEMPT TO CLAIM POWERBALL PRIZE WITH FORGED TICKET

Carlisle man arrested at Lottery headquarters

HARRISBURG – A Carlisle man faces charges of forgery and theft by deception in connection with a failed attempt to use a fake Powerball ticket to claim an $853,492 prize.  The ticket scam failed when the forged ticket couldn’t pass the Lottery’s validation tests.

Brian Scott Miller, 34, of Pheasant Drive South, Carlisle, was arrested Monday at Lottery headquarters by Swatara Township and Lower Swatara Township police when he tried to pick up his winnings.

“The Pennsylvania Lottery’s comprehensive security procedures make forging a winning Lottery ticket virtually impossible,” said Gregory C. Fajt, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.  “Mr. Miller’s fake ticket couldn’t pass even one of the Lottery’s validation tests.”

Miller attempted to claim a second prize from the record-setting Oct. 19 Powerball drawing.  A bonus pool in effect for that drawing had boosted the second prize to $853,492.  The normal second prize for Powerball is $200,000.

Ten legitimate winning second prize tickets were sold in Pennsylvania for the Oct. 19 drawing.  All ten have been validated.  None were sold in central Pennsylvania.

Miller completed and signed a claim form at Lottery headquarters in Middletown on Oct. 21.  When Lottery security officials determined that the ticket was forged, the Revenue Department’s Office of Criminal Investigations conducted a preliminary investigation.  The results of the Revenue Department investigation were turned over to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution.

Fajt said an investigation into the forged ticket is continuing.

I guess he did not know about the bar coding, and assumed the lottery only goes by what the ink says. There may also be some watermarks, or hidden ones as well. If a dollar bill has security features, you can bet that a potential $300 million dollar lottery ticket is going to have them also.

He sounds like a PA Legislature.  They "broke the law" by giving themselves a pay raise in the middle of the night.  Then had to rescind the raise.  Bet they don't get charged with anything!  Once again, its only wrong when you are not one of the elite.

GameGrl, I don't need to do anything of the sort! But I do think you need to know the definition of the word Forged is though! There is nothing to even speculate or debate about what the word forged means! The word it self explains it's self! Unless you have no common sense or you are choosing not to use any part of the education you may have received earlier in life! There is nothing amusing (directly or indirectly) about anything being forged! The point that has already been made that the Lottery commission has determined the ticket to be a Forged ticket! And on that determination, they arrested the man! I could careless about their on going investigation into the matter! If and when they come up with something else and it results in more arrest, the story will be carried by a news station or it will be put in the newspaper and I just might get the chance to catch up on the finer details of the forgery committed against the lottery!

DirtyWrat says: I think we all take a turn wearing those rose colored glasses every time we buy lottery tickets. I say, I don't! I'm a Gambler! Maybe a Dreamer when it comes to the lottery and my playing it, but that's about it! I always shoot from the hip and I definitely don't beat around the bush about anything, at anytime, for anyone!

Yikes! Such hostility on a lottery board. Okay people...everyone close your eyes and imagine all of us holding hands in a circle and chanting peace, love and understanding. Nah! I think a better vision is seeing me win lots of money and throwing a big party. So be nice or I won't invite you.

I think ducks are cute.  In fact, I'd rather go out with a duck than most guys. At least the duck will take care of his own bill. Now if I could just do something about his fowl language.

As far as questioning the meaning of the word "forge"goes, you can forge ahead, forge a partnership, forge through a blizzard or go to Valley Forge. But you can't forge an official lottery ticket.

Well I thought that most people knew that the bar code was part of identifying the ticket. He probably should have done his research before attempting his rip-off.
