Powerball lottery jackpot reaches $250 million

Powerball

The jackpot in America's favorite lottery game continues to grow to enormous amounts.

Even though the grand prize was not awarded Wednesday evening, 1,324,903 players across the nation won a total of more than $14.4 million in prizes.

Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Wednesday's drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $250 million.

The cash option for the Saturday, February 11th drawing will be an estimated $120.1 million.

The numbers drawn Wednesday night were 14, 25, 32, 48, 54 and the Powerball was 10. The Power Play multiplier was 5.

Thirteen winning tickets in Iowa (3), Kentucky (1), Missouri (1), New Mexico (1), Oregon (1), Pennsylvania (1), South Carolina (1), Tennessee (2), and Wisconsin (2) matched all 5 white numbers for a $200,000 prize. The two big winners in Pennsylvania and Indiana not only matched all 5 white numbers, but also purchased the Power Play option multiplying the $200,000 prize 5 times for a total win of $1,000,000.

Sixty players matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000.  Thirteen additional players who won at this prize level also purchased the Power Play and had the $10,000 winnings multiplied by 5 to $50,000.

More than 152,000 winning Powerball players multiplied their prizes by 5 Wednesday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2 to 5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there aren't any jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased more than $53.3 million in tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night. The lotteries sold more than $2 billion in Powerball tickets in FY05. That translates into more than $600 million for worthwhile state projects.

What would $120.1M cash look like?

“……
And if $120.1 million is just too hard to imagine, here are some fun facts about what $120.1 million looks like.  Measured in one-hundred-dollar bills, $120.1 million:

Weighs 2,648 pounds. It would take 1.3 one-ton trucks to carry all the cash.
Would line up, end to end, for 113.7 miles, crossing the US almost .04 times.
Would stack all the way down to the deepest ocean depth
.01 times. The Challenger Deep is 7 miles deep; a stack of 120.1 million one-hundred-dollar bills is .09 miles high.
Would fill up 16.7 boxes of copier paper
…”

Good luck to all members!

Doesn't matter:

No one is going to see $120 Million in CASH.

That would be the estimated cash option before taxes.....

so, after Federal and state( if applicable) taxes , more like $80 million or so...

I already know how to measure $80 Million :

It would fit into my bank account(s) very nicely !!    Hurray!

Good Luck,

 DD

Ya' think it will get that big.  I think this weekend is the winner.  It will be a shared jackpot, I think.  Maybe three winners this time.  But hey, just a million would be nice!DanceI have the fever again.  I am playing in this one and when ever I get feverish, I spend $20.00 plus dollars and know I have contributed to a jackpost for somebody else.  But funny thing this time, "I think I am going to win something this time...  " Famous last words Naughty  Nevertheless, Good luck all.  We will have a nice jackpot to share! Tee hee! Party

Good luck to all LP members entering this challenge. The reason I must enter the PB challenge because I finished a close 3rd place in the 2005 MM and PB predictions thread with 10 3+0 times.
