Mega Millions

Someone who bought a ticket in Amarillo for Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing is about $72 million richer.

The ticket bought at a western Amarillo convenience store matched all five numbers and Mega Ball number drawn last night for the $122 million jackpot.

That dollar figure applies only if the winnings are paid out over 26 annual payments and Texas Lottery Commission spokesman Bobby Heith says the ticket buyer opted for a cash-value option.

That means a cash payout of just more than $71.8 million, according to the Lottery Commission estimate going into Tuesday night's drawing.

The Lottery Commission Web site says the winning ticket was sold at the Taylor Petroleum store at 3400 South Coulter Street in Amarillo.

Store manager Alfonso Ortiz said no one has boasted yet of having the winner, but he says "we've got a lot of phone calls."

"Somebody's going to be very excited," he said.
