Lightning did strike twice for a Wichita man, at least when it comes to Kansas lottery games.
Two months ago, Larry McDaniel-Sheets purchased a $2 Bonus Crossword ticket at the C & C Store in Wichita, winning a $20,000 top prize. Last Friday afternoon, much to his disbelief, McDaniel-Sheets purchased a $2 The Duke instant scratch ticket at the same location, winning another top prize of $10,000.
"I never thought something like this would ever happen again," smiled McDaniel-Sheets. "That must be a lucky store for me."
"I feel so lucky," said McDaniel-Sheet. "Everyone keeps telling me I should play Powerball."
McDaniel-Sheets said he doesn't play lottery games that often.
"I buy scratch tickets when it's pay day," said McDaniel-Sheets. "I buy a variety of tickets but usually stick to Bonus Crossword. I had never played The Duke before. It happened to catch my attention that day."
McDaniel-Sheets, who is single, works at Coleman in Wichita. The 20-year-old plans to invest his winnings.
The winning ticket was purchased at C & C Store, 1131 E. 47th St. South in Wichita.
"I feel so lucky," said McDaniel-Sheet. "Everyone keeps telling me I should play Powerball."
