Triples are on a roll in Maryland.
Sunday night's winning Pick 3 numbers were 5-5-5, making it the second triple drawn in just one week.
That brings the total number of triples drawn since the beginning of the current fiscal year to eight.
Add in a quad in the Pick 4 drawings, and The Maryland Lottery has paid out $17.6 million to players of triples and quads since the first of July.
"Triples have been very frequent this year," said Lottery Director Buddy Roogow. "It seems like we've had an unusual amount, but mathematically, triples have the very same chance of coming up as any other numerical combination."
Pick 3 players view the "triple" recurrence as a happy coincidence, since it typically means a huge payout. Sunday's 5-5-5 drawing awarded over $1.6 million to players and took in $379,455 in sales.
The Maryland Lottery's Pick 3 drawings are held twice a day — midday and evening, seven days a week and are televised every day except Saturdays on WBAL-TV and Maryland Public Television.
The results are displayed on Lottery Post's Maryland Lottery Results page (www.lotterypost.com/results/md) a short time after the drawing.
Last week the day drawing in MA was 5556, while across the border in NH it was 6665. I like triples :)
North Carolina got triples on 10/27= 888 11/1= 666
I am looking for us to get another set this week as well. Best Wishes to all!!!
No sign of panic from Mr. Roogow, no call for any change, even as lottery profits may be affected by the circumstances. What a breath of fresh air.
MDSL held back those triples for a long period of time and made alot of money off of us. It's about time they gave some back.
Maryland all available history one more triple ties a record with 1984
I will admit they had a dry spell between Nov 22 - 2007 and June 4 - 2008
Folks these results are one of the benefits of being a paid member.
Also amazing, the triples came out in pairs in the 222 to 555 range in the recent months! I played Maryland a few times passing through and I like that they use ball drawings in square chambers. Imagine if these were computerized draws there could be a lynch mob out there.
