Let me rephrase it.

IF I posted "Complete coincidence...period."

Is that middle ground? - is that respectful enough that you would NOT criticize it?

it is,  and in the vein of not flooding the thread with any more posts than is necessary,  all four of your previous "suggestions" feel under the category of "respectful".

us believers don't expect anything beyond the respect factor.

no one is asking you to tip toe around our beliefs, just don't attack them just because you don't like them

i obviously could care less how ardent a 180 degree "belief" is from mine,  because i am not all over LP in every thread / forum spraying my displeasure.

therein lies the parameter, respect

a perfect example would be joker's "20,000 children a day offering"

it wasn't so much the hard question / challenge to our faith, as it was his timing and intent,  and his only intent was a disrespectful sarcastic jerk angst driven swipe.

calling an innocent party "dumbass" solidified his intent.

you want to offer counterpoints based on a disbelief in our way of thinking, perfectly acceptable

you resort to belittling, name calling,  mocking statements like "that's just a moronic fairy tale",  etc, then expect to take one on the chin from us while doing so.

making comments that have the "purposeful jerk factor" are sure to garner special treatment

the one punk move that brings out visiondude 2.0,  is when someone pulls some underhanded manuever to attempt to kill the convo about God,  just because they don't like it.   i reach for another gear when i smell that

can't count how many times integrity giants like the likes of stack complain about content (yet they read every bit of the thread),  or the "it's way off topic now" garbage,  when they go off topic in other threads.

that has been the main reason for my residentcy at LP,  to protect the right to talk about God.   if you search my archived history,  if it were to go back that far,  from my first appearance i made sure the integrity of Christ was highlighted, and protected......at least the basic right to discuss it openly

respect is pretty obvious and observable,  and so is an attack,  veiled or otherwise

to even have to HAVE a discussion about what's acceptable respect-wise says lot about you guys intent,  and it's sliding scale of truth.   respect is a universal commodity,  and you don't have to have brain surgeon intellect to recognize or aknowledge it.

you guys know full well what you do,  and it's been demonstrated you could care less,  you will still keep doing it,  but now you have to PM each other to figure out new veiled ways to do it.

joker.   that guy will continue to throw angst driven fastballs right over the plate.

i know people.  it's what i do

            "i am .........."meant to"

P.S.,  that RJoH  is a stand up guy.  thanks,  vision

until further notice,  it's  france everyday

visiondude and rdgrnr - Thank you.  I had asked this as the final question: "Is that middle ground? - is that respectful enough that you would NOT criticize it?"

You have both responded favorably to my question that posting "Complete coincidence...period" would not be a problem.

visiondude's actual response (slightly shortened):  "it is,..."  http://www.lotterypost.com/news/232109/2106674

    rdgrnr's actual response: "Absolutely."  http://www.lotterypost.com/news/232109/2106503

I would say that the arguments start small and just keep getting worse and worse.  Hopefully you see this and agree.

Now, I'd like to direct you to May 29, 2011 and in particular to page 2 of this thread.  This page contains the very first post by joker and comments by visiondude and rdgrnr.

Here is the link, http://www.lotterypost.com/news/232109/2  - so you can read the actual page and verify I didn't change anything.

Here are the posts, shown in order of the times posted.

    First Joker posts this:

    joker

    Then visiondude's comment

    visiondude

...and further down the page, rdgrnr's comment

    rdgrnr

It appears you both responded to his post, which is phrased almost exactly like what I asked about above (Complete coincidence...period) (Is that middle ground? - is that respectful enough that you would NOT criticize it?).  ...and then it escalates into 40 pages.  Part of the escalation is due to past history between joker, visiondude and rdgrnr.  I can include myself and maybe a few others in there as well, however I never posted a response directly to the lottery winner in this thread.

To be honest, joker posted something respectful and you both jumped in.  In all fairness I think rdgrnr may have been including other posters as well, in his comment (not sure what was running through his head at the time).

Would you guys agree that you should have left joker's post without a comment?  I would hope so, based on your answers to my questions.

Lottery Post is on the net - the net is worldwide.  Even in the U.S. there are religions of probably every faith in the world and there has been a lot of disrespect shown against many of them in this thread (and others).  That doesn't seem like a good thing for Lottery Post.   Religion/Atheist discussions will never be solved here.  I don't know the proper thing at this point, maybe, "can't we all get along?"  or "shake hands and let's move on."

...that brought a tear to my eye!  cry

Ridge doesn't care about facts. His mission is to attack me with irrelevant subjects. I'm an Iranian caveman cab driver who likes to beat women. That's his defense. If that's not a looney tune mind, then I don't know what else it could be.

The very notion that he believes without any FACTS,  some scribblings in some book by ignorant old men who didn't have a clue about their world reveals a lot about Ridge. He doesn't care about facts.

I bet he still believes in Santa and the tooth fairy.

Hey Ridge, I got a bridge to sell you. Only 50 bucks.

I had a feeling you had an ulterior motive but gave you the benefit of the doubt anyway.

          And I was right.

You already know I wasn't responding to joker so there's no need for the big charade.

Anybody who didn't see what was building up  prior to my post is blind. I tried to nip it in the bud before their frenzy of hate for Christians got into full swing.

I stand by my words and I don't see any malevolence in Vision's words; he calmly, rationally and reasonably voiced his opinion on joker's comment.

          So what's the problem?

Can't wait to see him lie his way out of this one now.

                      Oughta be good.

                      Lie about what?

When you accused me of calling someone a dumbass, I thought you were referring to the lady who thanked God for her 4 grand win or whatever amount it was in another thread. Then I realized you were talking about perfecttiming. I'm not always sober when you write to me.

"I had a feeling you had an ulterior motive but gave you the benefit of the doubt anyway."

Thank you.  Not sure what the ulterior motive was, other than hopefully bring some reason to this thread.  I agree that the remarks should be respectful (of course that goes for both sides).  I am looking for some common ground.  Does it really matter who brings peace to this?  What do you think I have to gain when I propose any of my ideas?

"Anybody who didn't see what was building up  prior to my post is blind. I tried to nip it in the bud before their frenzy of hate for Christians got into full swing."

You mean your comment on page 2?   This comment by you was intended to defuse the situation???  I find that hard to believe - not even a little bit.  BTW, I can't see where that wasn't directed at joker.  I gave you the benefit of the doubt by saying you were including others because you said "cowards" plural.  If this wasn't the internet, I do believe you would have been shot considering the atmosphere of the thread at the time.

"I've never seen more hate than the hate non-believers have for Christians.

Funny thing is, they're always gutless cowards.

                            Every last one of em."

                            "So what's the problem?"

The problem is the religious people don't like to hear even the slightest thing against their religion - atheists probably don't like to hear derogatory remarks either.  So, it escalates.

If it comes down to worldwide numbers, there are more that believe in Evolution.  Evolutionists believe the Bible is nothing more than a book - but that gets you upset, so you fire back immediately. So, it escalates.

"This chart depicts the public acceptance of evolution theory in 34 countries in 2005. Adults were asked to respond to the statement: "Human beings, as we know them, developed from earlier species of animals." The percentage of respondents who believed this to be true is marked in blue; those who believed it to be false, in red; and those who were not sure, in yellow.

A study of several such surveys taken since 1985 has found that the United States ranks next to last in acceptance of evolution theory among nations polled. Researchers point out that the number of Americans who are uncertain about the theory's validity has increased over the past 20 years."
