GARNER, Iowa — A former Kanawha, Iowa, convenience store worker has been given a deferred judgment after stealing lottery tickets from her employer.
Kimberly M. Bates, 40, Kanawha, pleaded guilty to second-degree theft, a Class D felony, in Hancock County District Court. Bates must serve three years probation and pay $1,039 in victim restitution.
If the Iowa Department of Corrections deems it appropriate, she must also undergo mental health treatment.
An additional charge of lottery forgery or fraud was dismissed.
Second-degree theft and lottery forgery or fraud are both Class D felonies.
Bates was charged in connection with the alleged theft of lottery tickets from the Pronto Store in Kanawha, where she was formerly employed.
Second-degree involves the theft of items with a value of between $1,000 and $10,000.
And the wheel goes round...
She lost bigger than she thought she would have won! Out of work, criminal record, a debt to pay and no benefit of the small wins she would have collected had she gotten away with it.
There's dumb and then there's....!
Not the brightest is she ?
..mental health treatment?? That's rich. I guess she tried to get away with the addiction excuse instead of just owning up to
thinking she could take the tickets and actually get away with it and maybe get rich on the side too.
Sorry, but she got off the lightly....
Maybe Kimberley in her grand scheme, planned on paying back the missing lottery tickets from some of the big winning tickets.
Then again maybe the moon is made of cheese.
which ever be the case a few years in the Maze of mazes and she'll be able to try again provided no one checks her background
Can't keep a good loser down!
She must not have been paying attention during the Training video......"Your suppossed to steal lottery tickets from the customers not the store!" LOL!
I believe that Ms. Bates was so determined to win a lottery jackpot and that made her steal the lottery tickets. Poor Bates, she was caught and will be punished for what she've done.
and maybe the world is flat....the saga continues and the plot thickens lol......
not the sharpest tool in the shed if you ask me.....
but if your not part of the solution, you're part of the problem and obviously she was part of the problem.....misdemeanors these days
Hum, mcginnin56, I like to eat cheese. I don't think that cheese likes me back though.
I've heard others say the moon is made of cheesecake, maybe that would be more to your liking.
Cheesecake is cheese on a mission.....
Cream Cheese gives me nightmares..........
