A Californian might win this jackpot. No one is stopping Californians from driving to Oregon or Arizona to get Powerball tickets.

There are those who are crazy enought to drive to either State with the hope of winning, but l will not be one of them. With the odds at 1-176 mil, its insanity, unless one lived on " Jefferson Rd" in California real close to the Oregon border and fancied taking the drive across the border to purchase some tickets.ime

l will wait for PB to arrive in April, no worries.

    Big Smile

Which states allow winners to remain anonymous to the public?

Which states allow winners to remain anonymous to the public?

        From the  Powerball FAQ page:

All but five states (DE, KS, MD, ND, OH) have laws that require the lottery to release the name and city of residence to anyone who asks. Other states may offer to assist you in some way, including such things as the creation of trusts... Photos and press conferences are up to you for most, but not all states. Check with your  state lottery to see if photos or more are required... Even if you can keep your identity secret from the press and the public, you will have to be known to the lottery - so they can confirm that you are eligible to play and win..

Only started buying PB or MM with the Cash lump-sum option. Your advice about the cash option makes better sense than the annuity.

          Thanks for the tip.

Not sure but Michigan was listed on a page that said 6 states. The 5 you mentioned and it also says Michigan to. Could be wrong info though

                  Help Me Win,

Great analysis on the annuity vs Cash out payments.

That 25 % federal tax is what will be withheld from your winning check. You will end up owing more then 25% though if you get up in the millions

Although it is rare in 2011 a trust i thin it was took there 35 mill in a annuity. And in 2010 a guy named Steve Mays  of Michigan took 140 mill as an annuity
